B&O with and without tech pack

For cars with 02xx software there's a new software update available: 0213. It should restore subwoofer control and the settings are no longer periodically reset. It has only been available for about a month now in Holland and Belgium, should be available in the UK now too. I'd really advise your dealer to check for any MMI updates.

(Update won't be distributed via the MMI online update.)

Great news. Thanks for the update. If anyone has a copy of a successful work order for this update/repair, I would appreciate a copy to get things going here in the US.

These settings have served me well. Letting the sub do it’s thing with the lower frequencies.
I listen to everything from House to the Eagles.
Thanks to Rob!

Latest information I have on this from my dealer is that they've had a number of enquiries about the subwoofer control being missing. So they contacted Audi Milton Keynes Technical who in turn contacted Germany Technical, and apparently the subwoofer control was purposely left out of certain chassis no / model / age.

That's the only info I have.

Just like Ambroos said. It was posted on the other thread - http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/facelift-sound-settings-resetting-frequently-b-o.306649/page-4

Is there a quick way to determine what software we're on?

Had mine updated and got car back today.
First impression is that it is a big improvement. Completely different with the subwoofer working.
Hassle your dealers immediately and get the update done.
Will report in a couple of weeks about if it is resetting.

I called my local dealership and they said they didn't know anything about the sub control missing. So I decided to call audi USA, and they told me they haven't really heard anything about this either and are going to work on a fix? What did you do to get an update?

Diagetic it is best you go to your dealership and speak to them directly. I had reported the issue with my dealer a couple of months ago who when looking into the matter noted that Audi knew that there was a problem. When I took my car for a service 2 days ago I specifically requested the software update for my MMI after reading that there is an update available. The technician told me he cannot do any updates unless he knows what it is for. Explained to him the issue I have and he checked if there are any updates to my complaint. And he managed to find it. The update has been ordered and will be available in a week or so.

You need to ask them for the update, they won't do it for you unless you ask for it

No need to look at the parts bulletin, the amplifiers have simply been revised, it is on its 3rd revision, i.e superseded the prior revision for the newer one

So it went 81A035466 from date of inception till 07/11/2016

81A035466A from 07/11/2016 till 29/05/2017

81A035466B from 29/05/2017 to current.

My 81A035466B has arrived today.

Did this new amp give you the subwoofer control by the way?
If it did, did it make much difference?

Does anyone here have the Audi Sound System? Wondering if that got an update, as opposed to solely the B&O?

I went into the dealer and they told me there is no available update for the cars with a nav system.

I believe the tech pack adds the nav.

Haven't collected mine but I can assure you I didn't add the Tech Pack to my spec and it specifies it has a navigation system based on SD card (on-top of the one you get with AndroidAuto/CarPlay?), I think every car comes with this by default. To my knowledge the Tech Pack gives you a better MMI (with motion gesture control etc), Virtual Cockpit, wireless charging box.

What year? Mines a 2017 and the tech pack was a $3,200 option with the nav, virtual cockpit, and bang and olfusen.

Remember that some countries have different specification, in Germany for example on the base model A3 navigation is still an option.

During my visit to the dealer for an oil change, I got them to check for a software update to the MMI and there wasn’t any. They confirmed that for my chassis / model year the subwoofer option is not available.

Mine is a Tech Pack car.

AL

AL_B the problem cars all seem to be non tech pack with b+o as an option.
Look at what version you have in the system info, latest update is 0213.

There are always updates to the MMI system, however Audi don't like installing them unless there is a specific problem with your car, they go by "If it ain't broke then don't fix it" servicing method, also someone has to pay for the time it takes to update the MMI system, and neither the dealer or Audi gmbh want to pick up the bill.

What you need to do is find a specific TSB, that covers a fault with the MMI system that the dealer can use to charge back the service time for the technician to perform the update.

Non tech pack (albeit I have an A4 Allroad) Audi Sound System user here. I’m also on 0213. Same issue!

Having the bulletin number definitely helps. I have not seen one yet myself.

Update on the update......

Not had a problem going back to factory settings !!

Even the wife has said what an improvement it is, and that is saying something.

Badger your dealers, it has transformed my journeys.

I got an update from a friend that works at Audi:

B&O subwoofer control missing acknowledge by Audi. There is a software update for vehicles without Nav (as sited in previous posts). There is a TSB for this so your service center should be able to look it up and fix your problem.

For cars with navigation, Audi has published acknowledgement of the issue and is currently working on the fix. No available software updates at this time. They do ask service centers to create a TAC so Audi can document the issue.

Nothing on the sound settings resetting themselves in either document according to my bud.

Also, article was dated the beginning of March so hopefully those of us with Nav will get a software fix in the next month or so!

I’m so confused with this now.

I’m under the impression that some people like me who have SD Card based sat nav and B&O (non tech pack) have had the fix applied already?

My cars in for service on the 13th April so let’s see what response I get.... I’ve already requested an update to which they haven’t responded.

I have Feb 2018 build S3 with SD Nav and B&O. I do have the separate subwoofer control in sound settings, however have had two instances now where all sound settings have reverted to default.

Two software updates done today, MMI plus B&O sound system. The update seems to have given the sound more transparency and guts, plus I now have the elusive separate sub control!
Old software version was 0148, new 0213. I've been asked to report back if there are further problems.
Audi beam door lights were also replaced under warranty but pitted chrome exhaust tips turned down.

My car is a very early FL, built July 16, Non tech with SD Sat nav (standard) plus B&O.
Dealer showed me the paperwork that said this is a recognised problem and the fix. They said that they had completed two software updates on my car so whether the 0213 software is MMI and sound system is a different update I can't really say. Everything ok so far.

Does any of you have the TSB number or parts number for the update to 0213? My MMI is on 0211 and only just now started forgetting audio settings a few times a week, and my dealer keeps playing the "there's no update"-card.

Had mine updated, getting Subwoofer control. Car is having SD Nav (not activated) and B&O. Old FW was 191, haven't check what is new one. Works great, not resetting to defaults and start-up is much faster as well.

Hello all,
Just picked my car up from service over here across the pond. I informed them about a possible MMI update for the sub-woofer control missing. The technician noted a "Pending Service Solution" was tied to my VIN in which Audi will contact me when a solution becomes available. There was no mention of how long this would take. At least good to know they have acknowledged the issue!

I had a fully spec'd S3 with Nav for all those that inquire. I do not suffer from the audio settings resetting however. Cheers.

I took my car to have the software updated as I was missing the subwoofer settings too.

I have a 2017 FL A3 e-tron with the HDD based nav.

I took it to Audi in Hitchin who were incredibly helpful, unfortunately their first attempt failed and they had to order an SD card from Germany, with this the car updated perfectly the technician noted that it did 10 ! other updates as well but I am unsure of what these were...

The audio quality seems better too though this may just be subjective....

I can also note that now my speed camera POI are shown on Google maps and the MMI feels snappier also car play seems to be smoother too =)

The car started with an MMI version 0679 and was updated too 1168

Bought my car from Hitchin :icon thumright:

I'm on 0679 too so that's good news if there's an update to 1168. What did you say to them to get them to update it?

You need to specifically tell them that the subwoofer adjustment is missing from your MMI . I did ask what the technical bulitin number was but they wouldn’t tell me ! They seem to have a policy of not updating a car until the customer complains which I think is ridiculous considering that the car has an always on data connection too..... Should just do it in the background after you give it permission . You may find they need to order an SD card with the software built for your car on it as the reason they couldn’t do it the first time is the generic update failed, I do have an e-tron though .

Good luck

Yeah I did that last year, told them about subwoofer and sound settings resetting, they booked me in and I told them again on the day, even told them about the update being from an SD card with the part number and showed them the video from Tom.H from page 3. They ignored it though, kept the car for a day and it looks like they only checked through the settings and ran diagnostics, maybe reset it and that's it. Told me they want to keep it for another day to check the other S3's to see if they have the subwoofer setting. I knew they'd be useless so I got my car back.

If it aint broke, dont fix it... :)

Just risks breaking something else, so unless you complain with an issue, I agree they should just leave these things alone.

Or conversely ****** people off because of a fault they have and don't know there is a solution for, proper software testing should stop the introduction of new bugs.... :grimacing:

Both Camberly Audi who i bough the car from (who were supposed to do the update before i took delivery) and Hitchin Audi were aware there was an update .
