Swirl Marks

Ok just spoke to body shop manager
He said they would use a mop (rotary polisher) and do a three stage polish

He said in all likelihood he couldn’t get it 100% but should be fine

They prep all incoming second hand cars with the process above without issue
@Behind The Bins - Don't let him touch it, under any circumstances
They WILL trash the paintwork & try to cover it with a filler heavy products IMHO
TBH if someone said a brand new car needs a stage 3 machine polish I would be a bit worried

Sorry it has to be a Pro-Detailer all the way
But its your car & if your happy thats all that matters TBH

But you did ask ! ;):D

Thanks, I immediately thought when a three stage correction was mentioned - cracking a nut with a sledgehammer.
This is just their opening offer which I had to let them make, Ive sourced a local detailer now and will be going down that road

Mate new paint does not need a 3 stage correction ever.....A one stage correction will do, its only light swirls.....even scratches are easily correctable....with a 1 stage polish
A 3 stage correction is for old cars Correct,polish,Jewel....not necessary given the products that are available now

After reading the comments on here, to the OP i would highly recomend not taking the car back to the dealer as they will make the car look a whole lot worse i put money on it, instead take it or have the detailer come to you as i do, on march 1st i carried out a new car protection detail on johns new RS4 on here, after just one wash by the dealers and no doubt a few dustings off in the showoom the nardo paint had some swirls and RDS in it already, it is now wearing a dual stage Max Protect ceramic coating that will last for 3 years minimum. If you'd like to discuss potentially getting your car done by myself (as I'm mobile so will travel within reason) then send me a PM

Car just back from detailers, have to say the man is ocd. He has made a fantastic job of the paint correction topped off with ceramic

Link to his facebook, cant recommend him enough, operates in North Wales/Cheshire or there abouts. https://www.facebook.com/dluxcarcare/

Do you like the striped mats

I am so happy I have found him, so with this and Autoglass doing a first rate job my car is in a state it should have been in on 2 March

What a relief to find people who do what they say they are going to do without corporate bull and then deliver without damaging your car

It’s always nice to get a great service especially the prices they charge these days, car looks great.

Most if not all dealerships have such a person who deals with such issues properly , like l said all cars come with them to a varying a degree, it's a easy fix

Just be aware that Reading Audi (to my horror) use an automated car wash - wtf!!! Luckily they've not cleaned my car at my request. Too late for the S3

Pretty sure you can refine equally well with a rotary. You just need the right pads/polishes.

Regardless, the sentiment is the same... An Audi approved bodyshop (basically the one that's the cheapest for them to use) won't invest the time achieving a flawless finish that a detailer will.

exactly right. a detailer will charge between £300-£5000 to detail a car, typically £700-900 for the full works with ceramic coating eg gtechniq. some will do it cheaper but they might not be any good.

They charge this much as they'll spend 3-5 days detailing the car, plus their experience, its the main job, the kit they use, staff, premises, products they use are far better and more expensive than audis.

Audi will clean your car but spend perhaps 30 mins or maybe an hour if you are lucky and wont give a damn about how perfect it is as long as its presentable. They also make no money from so there is no incentive for them to do a perfect job. Makes you wonder why they don't offer it as a service, even if its an outsourced one done by a proper detailer.

Interesting to know. Even the new showroom though?

They have washed mine a couple of times and it's come back looking pretty clean but never too concerned with swirls until recently where I'm more concerned, but I'm sure some damage has been done anyway already.
