Evening all, apologies for my absence on the forum over the past few months. Lots of changes in personal circumstances and my old crumbling spine has been playing up. Sadly I have parted company with my A3. It’s 3 yr lease was up first week in March so it went back, someone will get a very clean, low mileage, well cared for car.
Unfortunately I haven’t stayed with the VAG group. The aforementioned back has meant going for something with a raised seating position so getting in and out isn’t as painful. Having tested everything from a Q3, Skoda Kodiaq, Seat Ateca, Kia Sportage, Mazda CX-3, VW Tiguan, Ford Kuga plus others I finally settled on a Hyundai Tucson Sport Edition Turbo DCT. I know it won’t be to most people’s taste on here but so far so good. It’s not going to win many races (175bhp) but it’s comfortable, loaded with toys, easy to get into and has a DSG/S-Tronic rivalling Autobox. Anyway, I’ll be sticking around if that ok? I’ll try and get on more moving forward. I hope everyone is well and has been behaving?

Hi Scott, firstly, yes you must stay around. Hope your back gets sorted soon. Now for the car, I do like it. If it makes things easier for you then that’s a bonus. Any pics of the inside? :) x

Definitely stick around. Replacement looks very smart, especially in white.

Cheers @TYb always difficult choosing another car when the A3 was bulletproof. First car I’ve had that was only in the dealership for servicing and nothing else. Fingers crossed this is as reliable.

Just had a quick search on auto trader, that’s an awful lot of car for the money.

Yeah, it has a lot of kit. Already turned off the lane keep assist and hill hold assist. LKA is a little disconcerting in normal driving. Could see it being useful on motorways but not around town! Kids are loving the heated rear seats and the fact I’ve now got 5 doors!! They hated the 3 Drs but loved the A3

@Scottyg - Tucson looks fab buddy. Congrats !
Like @Sandra says we NEED more pic's
Hope the back settles down some
You got to stick around

I'm also leaving / left the Audi brand, but unlike you I'm still in the VAG 'family'
Altho' I have a feeling @jdp1962 might not be speaking to me again lol

All the ASN members in the 8V A3/S3 section always behave, don't they ? :D

Good to see you back on here, even without the Audi. But can confirm you have a good replacement, this is what my wife has but it’s the Premium DSG oil burner 141bhp. She loves it, came from a fully loaded Focus Titanium X and wasn’t prepared to compromise on spec. As you say the Tucson is loaded, hope you enjoy it and it’s not to hard on the back! Not got any good pics, she doesn’t keep it clean

@Bristle Hound, course I’m still speaking to you, Col. :)
How else can I let you know what it’s like still to be in command of three litres worth of supercharged loveliness?! :tearsofjoy:

I went in thinking Diesel Sport Edition but they’ve stopped making it in that trim! Only in the petrol turbo manual or DCT. And I wasn’t going manual. Seemingly due a slight facelift in June/July they are phasing out the Sport to be replaced by X named new trim!! Good to know your Mrs loves hers. I now know where to get any advice or info. :thumbs up:

My old man bought one of these, in that gold colour.

He was telling me over the phone, and I was like "what the hell have you bought one of them for?" "And Gold? Really?"

However, once getting to look at it, it's actually a subtle colour and quite decent TBH. Having driven it, it's ****** decent I have to say. Plenty quick enough. Lots of kit, decent layout, and a nice drive / ride.

I was pleasantly surprised. Nice cars.

It certainly is, I changed to the A5 last October but still use this forum more than the others, A5 part is a tad quiet!

Cheers @Bristle Hound Saw another Cupra today. Sort of Daytona coloured one. Lovely with the 19s.
@Scottyg - Wonder if it was the same one I saw yesterday lol

Very true! :p
I'll just have to be content with two litres worth of turbocharged 'difference' :superman:

The back is more important than a car/suv that is not kind to your spine. You tested a lot of available options and I trust that your choice checks all the boxes as far as comfort is concerned, especially on a along journey. Nice to hear you are staying on this forum and all the best to you.

It does the job mate and is better for your back!

I've decided to downsize next time....at the moment the VW Polo GTi+ is looking good and the new Fiesta ST is on the list. Had this car almost 5 months and I've only done 1,500 mile! Normally we rack the miles up doing walking holidays in Scotland, but this year we've booked to go to Madeira end July into August and looking at Cyprus for September-October, so not even going to add holiday miles on it.

The new polo is lovely, homage to the old Golf. As is the Fiesta ST. Saw a new shake one the other day, they look lovely. Enjoy your holidays, I’m off to Cyprus in April. Can’t wait for some sun.

Exactly mate. It’s so much easier stepping in and out. Still need to spin round on my backside as I can’t step out to the side, kills my fuse!!! The engine is getting sweeter the more I drive it and getting use to the petrol over the diesel!!!
