Does anyone know of any 2.5” FMIC kits for the b6 the only one I can find is Cxracing but that’s 2” hot side 2.5” cold side

Failing that any links to the list of bends etc to male your own with a wellycooler core

What are people who have one in here running

I bought this and swapped the intercooler for Mishimoto blac series intercooler with 3'' inlet outlet

Problem is, the boost pipes are just 2'' so Devil Devolopements had to get the correct reducers. Fine for my power target of below 300bhp but not really above.

PS, the above 'kit' seems to be the only one other than CX racing to offer a plug and play kit.

Thank you very much I will have a read through your thread I did not really want to go above rod bending power so this could be ideal

Can't remember the size of mine but it was a cheap eBay Toyosports kit, can't go wrong for the money with Toyosports intercoolers (NEVER buy a manifold for a Toyota Starlet off them though... but I'm going off topic now haha).

Ha yeah I think when I was told it’s gotta be 2.5 it was probably for higher power. I think they also said the standard size was 2.5 so you would be getting better cooling but less flow. I see so many with 2” pipes that they can’t be bad

How come they don’t do a plug and play FMIC for the B6? I’m currently looking for one and I don’t really fancy paying all the shipping on the CXracing one

Bugs me too, same with carbon bits, it's like every other car they make everything for but they must think A4 drivers don't want them or something.

Yeah it’s annoying I think I’m going to buy a universal pipe kit and do a write up and of course a good core. The only problem is the outlet for the recirc valve and I’m sure there are some sensors in the somewhere

Reason being - Not really a market for it!

WAY bigger audience for your A3's and Golfs. Our b6 is a heavy sedan so assume not toooo many people want to tune it.

But, my link above IS a plug and play kit and cheap as chips!

Again, 100% fine for sub 300bhp levels but NOT anything after.

Andy - If you go for a universal pipe kit, expect a lot of work! (Cutting, welding, right reducers etc. - A friend of mine went this route. Ball ache)

Might have to place an order  cheers for that link mate

300 is the most I will go as my turbo can only do that and just spent £570 on it so I think this kit is the way to go. The guy who built my exhaust does remaps and said I didn’t even need an intercooler to go stage 2 so this has got to be ok

It depends, what is is your engine code and I will tell you if that's true or not.

If its a BEX 190, that info is 100% false. You maximise cooling at stage 2 and is known to help with reducing IAT's above 240bhp.

How much was postage as it’s from the states

It comes from China and was like £50 for postage. I didnt mind at all as this was the cheapest plug and play intercooler kit money can but for the B6.

Do note, I use my own supplied intercooler though.

Yeah it’s a bex, I did think it was a bit weird iv never seen anyone do stage 2 without one.
Oh was it China when I clicked o. The link I thought it said states sorry. Is it 2” the whole way through

Absolutely, its been proven that the standard side mounted intercooler will choke at above 240-250bhp and will cause too much heat soak hence why you NEED an FMIC.

You've now got me thinking..all i know is its orginally from china and was quote up to 60days delivery. Yes, a whopping 60days potentially irrespective of what delivery 'agent' you use. It came in about 30days.

Yes, completely 2'' mandrel bend intercooler pipe kit.

The one in the link works out at £250 all in, it’s says to contact the seller before hand though as the delivery is just a standard price and it may be possible to get it deliver cheaper....

For the money, i wouldnt flirt around with other options. Part of what i do for a living is dealing with delivery companies and for the shear headache of it all..not worth hunting for cheaper. Espeically coming from China. Trust me, i know.
