Picked this up last night. Only other B6 I've had was a saloon S4 about 5-7 years ago. But quite liking this as a daily beater

Between last night and today, I managed to clean the new motor. Not a quick process.

Pre-rinse
Snowfoam - Gyeon Q2M
2 bucket wash with Simoniz car shampoo and wax
Autosmart Tardis
Snowfoam again
Meguires claybar with quick detailed as lube
Machine polish with Mezerna PF2500
Mezerna power lock sealant
Windows done with Gteqniq G6 then G5
Leather cleaned with autoglym leather cleaner, then treated with Raceglaze leather balm
Interior carpets hovered then febreeze.

Still to polish & seal wheels, and properly do interior plastics.

But getting there. Next up, servicing almost everything.

That is a cracking example of a B6 A4...super tidy looking for its age. I'm sure the auto box is not up to much! Enjoy.

Ha ha. No, the auto aint the best part of the car.

But, I wasn't going to let that put me off. I have grown accustomed to driving auto's recently, and while they have generally been much newer and nicer, I was missing the lazy wafting about I could get away with with an auto box. So it was neither something I looked for, nor steered away from.

At the end of the day, I bought this car so I could be more picky about my next car. I am looking for a nice A8. Ideally a 4.2 TDi, and I didn't want to have to rush into buying one when I sold my Edition 30. This popped up, locally, at a decent price. Needs all sorts of servicing done, but once that's done, it should make for a nice beater until I get the A8, then I'll likely keep it as a 3rd car for airport runs and stuff.

Keep going it looks in great shape, get some cheap wheel center caps and nut covers to finish the wheels off.

Ha ha. It does have centre caps. They are just black ones. Good shout on the nut covers though.

I do have a couple sets of wheels to try on it though. To cold just now to get them out and clean them though, so that can wait until I get back from my next job.

These are them on my other motor. Should look good I'd imagine.

Or I have a set of BBS CH. But they were on an A3 so a high offset of 54 I think? So would need spacers. And the tyres are only 225/40 so probably don't have the load rating for an A4.

Cleaned, clayed, polished and sealed a set of wheels.

Come up not too bad at all really. Might sell them before trying them on the A4. Or may sell the BBS CH's I also have. See what set goes first I guess.

I do like the Votex kit and As for the leather it does seem to wear well, I’m on 196k now and my leather is still in great shape. Great looking Avant.

Nice choice!

The Votex kit looks so much nicer than the S-Line one, it’s certainly less common.

I’ll be selling my kit at some point though, when I begin my teardown and rebuild.

Thats looks very smart. You clearly have too much time on your hands
I have to drop mine round at the polish car wash, working shifts, doing up the house and cleaning at elderly parents n inlaws means i just dont have the time. Id love to be able to spend a full day cleaning and polishing my motor. A real sense of satisfactipn when done even with sore fingers

Ha ha. Not quite. I had enough daylight hours to get the wet stuff done, then brought it into the garage. Once the kids were down, and the wife got her time, I was then up until about 2am with the claybar and interior.

Once the kids were at school, I managed to get the rest of the polishing / sealing done.

Well, so much for not spending any money on my cheap runaround. Saw these, always like them on the B6, always thought they were the perfect wheel for it, so couldn't resist.

Also got a cheeky Miltek awaiting fitting. Should be decent after that. Well, also when I figure out what I need to get an aftermarket HU to work with the BOSE.

Not yet. Thought I'd exercise a bit of patience for a change, and get them properly cleaned up and stuff before sticking them on. Ordered some GTechiq C5 for them to finish them off too, so will probably be getting them on some time next week. While this weekend will likely be spent cleaning, claying and polishing them up. Might even take the weights off for that, and get them re-balanced after they are all ready to go on (plus I'll likely get the shop to fit them back on the car straight after. Save me messing about with the jack, lol).

Yes it was a bit of work, but they look great after.

Sit quite nice. This is a Sport, but seem pretty low to me. Springs are plain black, so dunno if they are lowering springs or what? Anyway. They certainly LOOK good.

Alas, not to be with these tyres though. Turns out 255 section tyres, on a 8.5J rim with an ET of 47 is a stretch too far for the old B6. Both front tyres were rubbing on the inside. 5mm spacers should do the trick.

Don't have any of them though. And not sure if I'll go down that route. It's winter tyres on there, so are needing changed soon anyway. So might just drop to a 235/35/19 tyre sooner rather than later. In the meantime, luckily I have a few other choices of rims to put on. I was sooooooo tempted to try out the CH's, but they have a pretty horrible offset for this car, and I suspected they would rub in near the same place. Shame as they have excellent tyres. No time to trial fit them just now, as kids duties though. That can wait.

But I do still have the Audi Ronals in the garage, so threw them on instead. No rubbing is good. But need spacer to sit better really.

So a day of ups and downs. That'll delay sticking the exhaust on a bit I think.

I prefer the silver wheels, they just seem to fill the arches better although running split rims in the winter might take it's toll on them.

Nice looking car, I've just got away from an auto box out of preference but as you say it wouldn't be a deal breaker on the right car, 3.0 petrol quattros are hard to come by. I tried looking for 3.0 quattro manual cabriolet two years ago and the only one I could find wasn't the best example. I just can't bring myself to do more than a bucket and sponge in this weather as I only have single garage which isn't quite big enough to get round both sides of my.
