What have you done to your 8V today?

IMG 0675

Had my tints done, used my Carista for a couple of mods (oil temp, alarm tweet, pass mirror in reverse and opened exhaust flaps) also fit a K&N panel filter & a gecko air freshener.

Oh and installed a SIM card for Google maps on MMI

Got plenty planned
RS3 grille
Spoiler
Splitter
Lowering 15mm (which I think is ok with mag ride)
RS3 red vents
Remap

Got 10 months to wait for some of it due to warranty

Not today but last Saturday I had my dyno run and was quite happy with my Revo stage 2 results.

They had mentioned it's one of the best dyno curves they have seen.

We did a dyno day at BTG not so long ago, nice setup, nice guys, Its only 5 mins from where i work, I am going to go back to see what the differences are once i have done all the intake mods. we had a golf R with us that was making 35 BHP over stock, with just the intake mods.

Was that the Audi owners north east meet as I'm not in that group, well any group as a matter of fact ha.

Can get some great figures with the right bolt ons @Firstname_lastname

@MikeParkin Just a quick question, is your clutch stock? If so, what about the longevity with 500Nm under the hood?

@Lehn im sure he has the Sintered paddle clutch, I have the organic rates to just over 400lb.
He’s only pushing 360 so fine

Aah he has a manual, didn't figure that out until now. To specify my question then, would the DSG be able to hand it?

As @welshy_a4 had said I'm running the Sachs 4 paddle sintered clutch kit.

Stock clutch was toast with a DTUK so needed changing.

Well it's closer to 370ftlbs haha @welshy_a4 and on other runs a bit higher but I'm not to bothered as I know if I went custom it would be around the 425ftlbs. I'll save that for Stage 3 but again that will more likely be Revo again.

It's on the high torque file so I'm lead to believe, maybe I can get the place to check it out.

I went for the Ara blue and Matt aluminum look but that spoiler is the same colour as the car if you do that and I think it should be black. So I accidentally ended up working right next to a place that does wraps so went in and they did it in about 30 mins.

Worth knowing that even though I got the standard alloys - a place called posh wash in London said they can convert them to diamond cut like the optional wheels for £95 per wheel which I expect I will take them up on in the next couple of months when the weather improves.

Sweet! What are the advantages of the box over a remap. Looks cool

Its an alternative to remapping your ECU without needing to replace your factory / stock software and thus instantly voiding any drivetrain warranty your vehicle might have, as long as you remove it before you take your vehicle to a dealership.

Got some All Season Pirelli Cinturato fitted today. I had the P7 Cinturato summer tires on but wanted a more versatile tire so this seemed to be the best way forward. Straight out of the garage I can already feel the difference. My old P7's must have been fitted at new or at least before I got the car around 2yrs ago. Bumps are softer and road noise is down. Have yet to try them in the snow but will report back. So far can defo recommend.

Changed my washer jets over from the awful 3 pistol-jet type to 2 semi-fan type genuine Audi A6 nozzles (with heating).

I decided to go with these instead of the full-fan VW Passat/Golf nozzles as they cost nearly 3 times as much.

Part numbers:

Left - 4G0955987A
Right - 4G0955988A

£20 all in direct from Audi.

More goodies, to go with some vwr lowering springs and 15/17.5mm spacers. Also got a Wagner intercooler to fit when I get chance ...

Mounted this little badboy, BlackVue DR450, together with a Power Magic Pro. So far I'm happy with the picture quality and the parking mode.
And yes the cam is upside down but that's because I don't want it to be in the drivers side (left hand drive) while running the cable along the rear view mirror.

Were these easy to install?

I too am interested in DJAlix and MTM.
I thought MTM was fit at home and forget and curious why a man of DJAlix's talents is involved. With only 1 more service before warranty end I am getting much more interested in the stage1 options.

To keep this thread on track, car still not been washed since July but did fill it up with fuel yesterday :)

Hello, are these a straight swap from the jet type?

Alix, do you mind me asking what sort of costs are involved with this unit? I've had a look and it seems to be at least twice the price of premium software (REVO/APR), I'm hoping I'm wrong... Greg.
Am in the process of doing a write up at the moment, so more information coming next week. What I will say for the moment is that costs wise you are actually correct! Yes its not cheap but forget about software vs box, software will always win 90% of the time in terms of numbers if thats what you are looking for. Tuning boxes are about convenience and not wanting to modify your ECU software, which although I have the tools to revert mods, I did not want to do every time I want to connect my vehicle to the VW Group network which is a lot. I deal with DTUK issues every day so did not want to go that route. The TMC box I had was limited and I don't want a JB1/4 as I would always be playing with it. I wanted a set and forget solution that I could remove on demand, workshop or roadside.

I cannot say how much I paid for this as I received special pricing as I work with the company who supplied the box. What I will say is that its worth almost every penny as:

1) its plug and play.
2) it connects to the ECU with no additional sensor connections and with no faffing around under the car.
2.5) FULLY connected to the car. Not just 4 sensors or 4 + a CAN connection. Its connected to every pin on the ECU and works WITH the ECU in order to deliver its results.
3) 5 mins to install and 5 mins to remove, and also warranty safe (if removed :))
4) The results, on my car at least, are almost as good as an "off the shelf " stage 1 map and delivery is very OEM thanks to point 2.5 :)

The MTM is "fit and home" but both the supplier and myself wanted to test the "before and after" results. This is my personal daily driver and we did a number of dyne runs :)

Further to the above... Warm engine, remove connectors and screws, remove coil packs, remove old plugs, install new plugs (30nm), replace coil packs (10nm), replace earth (9nm), replace engine cover, wash wounds and apply bandaids :)
