Facelift UK RS3 Saloon/SB (400ps) Order Thread...

This is exactly what I have done - just accepted as 67 plate from £56k car and my 65 plate trade-in just increased by £3.5k.

Considering I ordered the car in August I’ve been beyond patient. Only now it’s in the UK am I being annoying.

I can almost guarantee however that the dealer will get an email about my car delivery on Tuesday - his day off - although as long as I know that it’s being delivered I can pester someone else to get it ready.

He was king enough to say if it came on his day off someone else could do the hand over.

For £3.5k I’d have a 67 also

I asked the question about incentives for a 67 rather than 18 and they wouldn’t even give me a bag of apples

I’ll be collecting mine from there the day before haha... then an hours drive back to the west coast for me... maybe a detour on the back roads will be in order ha

Where you getting the wrap done at? I want mine done but heard it’s a nightmare getting the shark fin off... involves roof lining etc to come out first to get to the bolts... are you having that wrapped too? or just leaving it body coloured?

Haha, nice. A place called Onyx Automotive in Birmingham mate. Definately having the fin wrapped too, that's what I've asked for anyway. I'll let you know how I get on with it.

Definitly do mate... I want the back half of mine done gloss black but was just worried what could be done with the fin... plus I’ll have to find a good spot to do it! Birmingham’s possibly a little far though haha

No update on the tracker for me to stage 60 or 70. Still on 40. Not that I’m really surprised by that.

My S3 updated to 60 after it had been at the dealers a couple of days.

Online chat however told me it was delivered the same day as it was collected so I’m hoping for the same.

I’m not totally clear on the exact time frame from sheerness to the dealer. Is it 7 working days plus 3-5 transport? I’m going to double chat with chat in the day.

But then when do the 7 working days start? The day it went to 40? Or the day it arrived off the boat? Or do they start the day after it’s cleared customs.... it’s not exactly clear.

For clarity It arrived on Monday 29th January. Entered the compound for transport on Tuesday 30th. The tracker updated to status 40 at midnight on Tuesday morning (so Monday night).

I’d assume we include the Tuesday. So it spent 4 working days last week waiting. So 7 working days is Wednesday.

Of course working this all out doesn’t make any difference because Audi won’t speed up the process or be helpful until the 7 days have passed.

But I will do an @AudiNutta and complain if I hear nothing from the dealer tomorrow.

Aberdeen Audi have stated on their facebook page this morning that production of the 3 door A3 and S3 has stopped now and the only cars available are already built cars.

I wonder when production of the 5 door Sportback/Saloons A3/S3 and RS3 will cease? I'd imagine this year considering the new A3 model will be released 2019?

depends when in 2019. If it was March 2019 then i am sure theyd stop producing the current 8v model by end of third quarter. 6 months to prep the factory and build new cars in advance of launch, maybe they can do it in less time, not sure

I'm waiting on the new model. Kinda surprised that RVP hasn't been telling us how wonderful it is vs the FL ...

I was emailed by my dealer to let me know car will arrive on Thursday and they may be able to get it ready for me to collect that afternoon; if not Friday, but clearly hope its on Thursday.

However I am not sure if that is because he got an email from the transport company or because I phoned them and then asked him to phone...

I called Sheerness port and was given a number; they gave me another number and then I called another number and eventually I got through to the transport company.

The guy than answered was rude as hell. He said they don’t talk to customers. I spent a good 10 minutes trying to be reasonable and just get an idea of when the car would arrive - I was only after a timescale. Eventually after we both got a bit pissy he essentially said if I get the dealer to call then they can tell him when the car will arrive. So I don’t know if the dealers email was a result of him calling or their standard method. I did email to ask as its an interesting question.

If it does come Thursday then I am satisfied; don’t get me wrong I’m disappointed it has taken as long to get 1 hour down the road as it took to get from the factory in Hungary to the UK but I can just about handle waiting 2 days.

And yes I know I am a difficult customer; what’s probably most surprising is I wasn’t at all impatient between August and January...

Man its really hard to choose what options you want when on a budget. My ideal spec comes in at £53k, with UKCarbroker 6% discount, I'd be looking at £49,800. The biggest discount I've seen on this forum for an RS3 was 10% and that's £47,700. I'm not sure if options increase the GFV so I've used £26k GFV for 36 months that you get from Audi finance calculator. For the money I'd be looking to put in, its either £628 a month with UKCarbroker or if I can manage to get 10% off, £562 a month. Both more than I'm budgeting for. I could get a base spec car without trouble though, after the 6% discount it'd be £43k which is £414 a month. I doubt I could get 10% off a base spec car, if I could it'd be a nice £41.5k, which is £367 a month and similar to my S3 payments. I wouldn't be happy with a base spec car though and I'm finding it hard to cut options. Doesn't help that now you can only get B&O if you get comfort and sound pack for some reason. Having a look on Carwow, every dealer that got back to me is now giving a discount. Whenever I checked before, only a few would give discounts.

Yeah there are discounts; I am happy my negotiations got me a £2k discount to keep it in my budget - saying that my payments are £786pm. Originally I wanted no more than £750 but had to add options.

I feel slightly regretful now I went for the standard wheels - I just don't think they look they great specially when the rest of my car has all the other options! I may get them painted; I may change them in the future but to my eye standard wheels don't look as good on any cars I have seen so far. The only hope I have is that all the standard wheels have been on standard cars not £55k spec'd cars.

I don't care if they think I am a pain, annoying etc... I just want my car. Dealer is off tomorrow so I won't email him tomorrow. If I don't hear anything by Wednesday lunchtime I will probably send an email just to confirm we are looking good.

What would put me at ease would be a change to the tracker - but knowing how the tracker works I think it is more likely that the dealer will confirm the car is definitely there before Audi CS knows and does. I am crossing my fingers for Thursday afternoon/evening.

Could you go nearly new, ie delivery mileage, and get it within budget? The reason I ask is that there seems to be some great deals out there and with it being February, you'll likely get an even better deal.

Basic RS3 will hurt you eventually as who the hell would buy it 2nd hand?!

Maybe. But a standard RS3 is also about £8k cheaper than most others. Looking at the used market, the disparity doesn't seem to be that much!

They may be priced similar @D0C I doubt the base cars are selling 2nd hand though.

There are base cars that have been around for years online. Bristol Audi had a Sepang demo from mid 2015, it was missing the sports exhaust and that’s it... not a bad spec otherwise. October 2016 when I got my S3 it was there, July 2017 when I ordered my RS3 it was there and shortly after disappeared I can only assume to auction with 15k on the clock as a demo!

I had a totally standard demo from Birmingham Audi in September, was originally priced at £48,000.. its now £40,000 with 1500 miles on the clock because they just can’t sell.

For a car like an RS3 to spend YEARS on a forecourt, that is all that has to be said. Sports exhaust is a must..... Some have a turnover of hours..
A well specced car might not even make it to the website, in most cases.

I hear what you are saying but my 65 plate was trading at £31.3k px and I got more like £35k and whichever was you look at it I was also led to believe they knocked a few k off the £56k list - but as we all know it comes down to price to change.

Dealers are dealers but I have to say the sales service and negotiations have been second to none for what is now my 5th consecutive RS.

Assuming all goes well this week I will post up pics and fuller details

I have no connection to them except as a customer but Aberdeen Audi have a pre-registered FL SB on their FB page today with just over £3k discount on list. It might save someone a bit of a wait.

Mines been on the boat since Friday... seems it’s being treated to a round the world trip :tearsofjoy:

Your car is in the UK now - I would check with CS where it is exactly but as your waiting until 1st March it doesn't really matter.

I am hoping the dealer confirms to me that the car will definitely arrive on Thursday when I email him tomorrow as the tracker hasn't changed and it probably won't until after I collect.

I'll have a look. My current car was a nearly new one too but that time it was me being impatient. Now I got over a year left of the S3 and not in a rush to get the RS3. I wonder what APR % they give on those nearly new or demo cars. My S3 was 5.9% APR which was lower than others on this forum mentioned for nearly new/demo cars. Another thing is, the cars might not have the specific options I'm looking for, so I'll have to look hard for the right one. £786pm that Spinstorm is paying is too much for me, I was hoping for something around the £400-450 mark, the lower the better.

The reason for my £786pm payments is because I used all of my deposit to clear the negative equity on my S3; in total I paid the dealer £15,000.

Had I put even half of that down on the car without a PX my payments would probably be in your ballpark.

Has anyone here had their car turn up the dealer even though CS says its at port?

I am not referring to the tracker not updating until after the car arrives as that happens quite a bit, but what I mean is online chat or over the phone saying its still in port when it isn't.

Sounds like you're having some real bad luck

From when I ordered mine until I had a call saying it had arrived I didn't even seek out any information as to its whereabouts, nor have a log in for an Audi account etc.
I had a general catch up/courtesy call from the dealer late Dec saying it was build week 3 (15th Jan onwards) but then had a call from him on the 19th saying "Transporter just turned up with an RS3 on it...."

Maybe it's true when they say a watched pot never boils fella......

I’m sure if I didn’t want it this week then I would be oblivious and it would just turn up.

No way your car was built on the 15th and arrived on the 19th. The build week must have moved forward a good few weeks!

The dealer told me it will arrive Thursday. I’m just cynical that the information is correct as the tracker hasn’t changed. Because the dealer is one hour away it may not change until after I’ve collected the car anyway. They could pick it up Thursday morning and deliver it the same morning potentially.

I’m going to fire off an email tomorrow to see if it’s still looking like it will arrive on Thursday. I hope it does so I can collect either that day or Friday!

Fingers crossed for you, if it took another week would you still pick it up the day it came, or would you wait a couple of weeks for the 18 plate?

LOL I do send a few emails but its not like he gets 5 a day. More like 1 a day... and he replies when he can.

And I would rather phone him but I’m sure everyone here knows how difficult it is to get a dealer on the phone; they are either not at their desk or with customers.

If it arrived the week after next I would wait for an 18 plate as its literally a week but the car is already registered and as of Thursday it will be 7 days so won’t be able to unregister it so would defeat the purpose!

Just spent some time ringing round the forums insurance sponsors to see if they are competitive, and, what a waste of time...

Sky Insurance... expensive and won’t insure the car without a tracker being fitted

Adrian Flux... almost 3 times as much as compare sites even with the forum discount

Chris Knott... won’t insure me as I’m not over 30 years of age! what a joke!

Prestige... waiting for a call back, but after trying the other 3 I’m not expecting anything in the way of a competitive price

They’re coming out at a decent price but currently Admiral and Axa are the ones with the best quotes and with Admiral you can claim around £50 cashback too

I still can’t figure out how Chris’s Knott came to their conclusion of not being able to insure me due to being under 30, and said I needed to have past experience with performance cars where I didn’t meet their criteria... seemingly a Civic Type R, Focus RS mk2, Focus RS mk3 and a Nissan GTR wasn’t good enough :tearsofjoy:
