pretty chuffed with the results of the APR map, pretty much made the car perfect as an all rounder ,after 49 cars we decided to sell the MK7 Golf R and the mad 300hp Fiesta ST and get a car that suits us both,we are getting no younger and the Golf was beginning to be pain for our lass getting in and out and she wanted something a little easier so we found the RSQ3,out the box its pace was similar to the Golf which had a JB4 but now with the map its a damn sight quicker...itll never be as fun as my fiesta was (most fun car i ever owned and i have owned skylines/RS6/M3's etc) but its more fun than the Golf to drive simply because it s barmy driving 2.5 5 pot turbo Q3 fast, anyway results are in the pics, its all at the wheels so its near as it can be to APR's stated 425 bhp

No exhaust ,but I have noticed even in dynamic mode the exhaust flap stays closed till 3 5k rpm and you cannot code it open nor pull the connector as it just stays closed so I have ordered an AWE valve controller so it can Barble from low rpms ,such a shame Audi feel it only required one exhaust ,almost put me off buying it ,RS Audis need one either side

Really nice RSQ3 . I always find myself thinking about one of these every now and again. I assume you have the 367hp version on the RSQ3?

Looking on Q3ownersclub about remapping the RSQ3, one of the threads from a more knowlegeable member (who has an RSQ3) suggests that:

"fuel starvation is an issue for remaps on these engines. If you look at the changes Audi made to get the same engine from 340PS to 367PS it would suggest that a simple remap on it's own is probably damaging to the engine. The changes made (that the author of the thread) can remember were: uprated intercooler, uprated fuel pump, uprated rods and then an ECU remap".

http://www.q3ownersclub.co.uk/forum/rs-q3-modifications_topic4667.html

I've certainly seen other threads about the intercooler and fuel pump needing upgrading before a re-map.

You also mention about the exhaust flap staying closed until 3,500 rpm - are you sure? Mine (I have a 340bhp F/L RSQ3) opens (or certainly seems to) as soon as I drop it into Dynamic and/or Sport mode, as the exhaust note most definitely changes to a much deeper burble.

I take more notice of APR and other companies such as MRC and Revo that have put a lot of R&D into remapping these with hundreds of hours testing over some guy on a furum with his paranoia tbh ,there have been quite a few remapped now and non had any issues .
When mine goes into dynamic the tone changes yes but when it was on dyno it was muffled until around 3.5k rpm when it changed tone as if the valve flap had fully opened ,I have purchased a controller for the exhaust valve so I can have it fully open in comfort mode just pottery g about town as well as in dynamic and driving like a loon

Whilst I don't disagree about hours of testing, I suspect more this may have been done on the basis of the 370bhp RS3 engine which, although the same basic engine has a slightly different (lower) spec as fitted to the 340bhp RSQ3. In all honesty I would check whether the intercooler as fitted to yours is up to the job with APR as to the best of my knowledge Audi did fit an uprated version to the 367bhp Competition RSQ3 (to accommodate the extra bhp), so its possible it may need uprating to similar for yours now its remapped.

That aside - thought about fitting a Pedalbox? Have one on mine, really happy with the more instantaneous (tautened) response it gives - cuts a lot of the "lag" you often get when pulling away - and not silly money either. Won't affect your remap, but may just make it a little more exciting, as its like dynamic plus mode even when its not in dynamic.

Also if you have details about the exhaust valve controller I'd be interested to know, also how you find it once fitted. Thanks

The part numbers are identical on the 340 and performance intercooler ,audi only changed the internals of the fuel pump, radiator and remapped it ,I have used a pedal box on my Golf and and didn't like it one bit if I'm honest so I won't bother with the Q3 ,I don't want to go.spending £1400 on a larger intercooler (that's what Wagner charge  ) as I don't want to get into modding it because it's not in my eyes a performance car

I hope your having lots of fun with your mapped RSQ3, it was my previous car that was the development car that APR used to develop the map your car uses, it gave them a few headaches but was overcome by sending the ECU to APR America for final development

Excellent, yes it's not bad ,it's not a car I like to push though due to the nature of the car ,just such a lack of feel I may aswell be sat on the back seat ,it's enough to make overtaking easier ,I will be fitting autotech internals to the fuel pump at some point and a larger intercooler just for peace of mind even though I have been assured by a lot of high end tuners the fuel pump is fine on stage 1

Are the rs3 springs same as the rsq3 if they are I've got some h&r

How did you fit this pedal box? I’ve got a TDI Tuning one and the instructions they’ve sent are wrong!?
