hi guys ive just brough me a mfsw for the old girl. my question is does it need to be coded for the car to reconise it. or is it plug and play.

When I did mine, it was a 'plug n play' I think as long it's the same shape air bag on the steering wheel as your existing one then it should be fine. I could be wrong though but I had no issues with mine.

Yea thats the one. Needs to be either midline or highline module. For reference (ignore the cruise control part):

Steering Column Control Module
There are 3 types of steering column control modules, only 2 of them support cruise control.

  • Lowline
    • Supported Steering Wheels: Standard Steering Wheel (4-Spoke)
    • Supported Features: Trip Computer (does NOT support Cruise Control!)
    • Part Numbers: 8E0-953-549-F 8E0-953-549-S
  • Midline
    • Supported Steering Wheels: Standard Steering Wheel (4-Spoke), Sport Steering Wheel (3-Spoke), Multi-Function Steering Wheel
    • Supported Features: Trip Computer, Cruise Control
    • Part Numbers: 8E0-953-549-L, 8E0-953-549-N
  • Highline
    • Supported Steering Wheels: Standard Steering Wheel (4-Spoke), Sport Steering Wheel (3-Spoke), Multi-Function Steering Wheel
    • Supported Features: Trip Computer, Cruise Control, Steering Wheel Heating
    • Part Numbers: 8E0-953-549-M, 8E0-953-549-P, 8E0-953-549-Q, 8E0-953-549-R

thanks for this mate. i read a piost from a while ago that the mfsw is a plug and play item as the quib is the same on all b7s

Did u manage to fit the mfsw?
Im hopefully getting one next week but need to know if they plug/play or need coded in.
Both wheels are 3 spoke and identical except for the multifunction buttons.

My car is an 05 a4 avant (b7) with cruise control but no dis wiper stalk for the dash, just the standard wiper stalk.
Was also hoping to add a dis stalk so i can get the info on the dash. Is that possible if its not already on.

the b7 is a plug and play job as the clock spring as got the connection in it allready, you will need to get the dis coded to make it work on your car, ive got the stalk. but waiting to get the c/c switch and coms unit, then get them all coded togther.
