Lifted oil cap off the other day to top up oil found a **** load off mayo white yellow gew all over the top off the cap. is this the head gassket gon?? Im lossing a tiny bit off water not lots could this just be the valve gassket at the top? Or condensation from short journeys??? Smeone please help the dipstick has no mayo on it just nice cleen oil about a month ago i had oil pressure light come on but the garage had a look and said it was fine, at the time i dont remember there being mayo white yellow gew under the cap but there is now and quite a bit off it about s half inch thick eny help would be greatfull thanks

I posted this the other day everyone said it was just condensation also rang awesome today and they said the same. Clean the oil cap and change the oil if you can and keep an eye on it and make sure the coolant isn’t disappearing

Get it on mine and have done for years, usually just condensation from short journeys

Omg thank good for that i was thinking the worst..... i do only drive 3.5 miles to work and now that its cold it bearly has a chance to get to temperature..... but there was a lot off the gew a good half inch im still worried about it. Im going to take it for a good blast tonight see if it burns away i will take some pics n pute them up see what you giys think.....hope its not head gasket......enyone know if it could just be the valve gasket? Think im going to do it eanyway cheep a easy job for peace off minde.......

Half an inch seems a lot Tbh clean it off and go for a long drive. I was the just like you at weekend fearing the worse but seems pretty common. If there is any on the dipstick then I’d be worried

Thats why im a bit stuck though dip stick looks fine with nice a cleen oil. The car still pulls fine, i recently had an oil change a filter. I only notest this mayo gunk when toping up my oil.
Iv just taken the car for a good 45min drive after cleaning the gunk off the cap and inside the rim. There was No over heating and the temps wer fine all the time. i just cant see this being the head gasket shorly it would be obvious i mean i have been loosing water but it was probly evaporating because it was just water not the proper coolant which i have now got in there i was only losing a bit of water and toped it up evry 2 months. Anyway after a 45 min drive i took some pics off the top off the cap it did look alot better but still there remember i did wipe it before i went for a drive what do you giys think??????

Iv had a thort on this, whilst checking the joins for leeks around the back off the block i can see a tiny bit off oil looks like a bit off a blow in the gasket i belive this is the valve Gasket enyway About 3 months ago i had the dreaded no oil pressure light come on i was nailing it down a country road when i felt a herd a tiny blow just as the warning light came on no oil pressure pull over..could that off been the gassket blowing out ? I had it taken to a garage they had the sump off as i insisted they take a look at the pick up pipe and it was a bit gunky with brown oil not to bad as i get the oil changed often thay said thay took it for 4 test drives and it was fine with no codes at all. Its Almost like they didnt belive me that i had seen the dash warning come on lol Its been running fine since tho untill i went to top up the oil to finde half inch off mayo gunk all over the place could this be happening becouse condensation is geting into the top off the engine from the possible tiny valve gasket leek im hoping this is the case enyone have any thorts would be grateful

Cheap oil. I changed to castrol Edge fst and not had it since and you will normally get it in the winter.
Next service i have millers nano drive going in.

Ok so its been a while now, but i have now flushed the oil out and got the oil changed to castrol edge, had a compression test to see if the head gasket had gone but all was good v surprised, enyway i ended up changing the oil cooler just incase, all was looking good last week and then bam 3 weeks down the line i have thick ******* mayo **** all over the oil cap again like half inch thick this time moor yellow in colour than white wish i took a picture now, its never done this over the winter before iv had the car 3 years now im getting really ****** now as im trying to get the car sorted for santapod this year eny help would be greatfull also i topped the water coolant up 3 weeks ago when i changed the oil and now its low again.

If you're losing coolant check for leaks and also do the compression test again...

The 2.0 TFSi is known for this in cold weather & short journeys. Will stop once weather warms up, just keep cleaning it off.

How short are your typical journeys? You may have a head gasket failure which is not the type which would show up on a compression test or affect the car's performance. The head gasket can fail between the cylinders and the waterways or between the waterways and the oilways, the second type of failure will not show up on a compression test and will not affect the performance or affect the running temperature but may result in some coolant loss into the oil or vice-versa. The coolant is under pressure in a sealed system so no evaporation should occur regardless of the coolant type. If you are loosing coolant and you can't find a leak then it may be getting into the oil, small leaks often show up more when the engine is cold, if the leak is very small and the engine is hot the coolant may boil off before you can spot it. Check the water pump, leaks from this can be hard to spot unless they are bad.
