Owned My A3 2.0 Tdi 2014 for just over a month now. I can only seem to average 35/36 mpg max mixture of local driving and motorway. I do blast the car here and there occasionally. What MPG is everyone else getting Across the range in both A3’s and S3’s?

2017 S3 getting high 30's. I saw 43 driving between Leeds and mk the other day.

S3 mixed motorway and town driving 25/29

50mpg average over the 16k miles iv had my 2014 1.6tdi A3. Goes up and down depending on the type of journey. Going to the gym which is 6miles away it will read 35-40mpg as she is cold but on a run I can easily get 60mpg even if it isn’t motorway based. I noticed that the mpg went up after servicing so maybe yours is due one? You mention motorway driving but if the engine is still cold and it’s a short blast then the mpg you quoted is normal.

S3 can do 44mpg tops on motorway at 55-65mph.

Overall avaerage so far of around 26mpg but regularly get 30+

2012 a3 2.0 tdi 150 s line
40-45mpg when I'm giving it a good drive
45-50mpg when I'm driving normally
50-55mpg when I'm being slow and careful
55-65mpg when I'm going down the motorway in light traffic

Urban driving in Malta with a 1.6TDI I manage an average of 45mpg, however on the motor way in the UK and across Europe I was averaging around 55mpg,

Managed 46MPG from Manchester to Edinburgh, at least according to the OBC, I imagine that calculated using actual fuel put back into the tank, the figure would drop at least a few %.

Lifetime average for the last 12 months is 31.0 (again, according to the OBC).

1.6TDI, 105PS. Mainly A-roads and motorways, rarely if ever less than 60mpg and sometimes 70+ if I drive like a granny :D

Through town in stop start traffic, 45-50 is still achievable.

It is as slow as a week in jail though...

My previous 2010 A3 2.0 TDI would easily hit 60+ mpg on a longish drive, often hitting 70+ mpg. Around town usually around 45-55mpg.

80mpg last summer driving to Switzerland (Croatia > Slovenia > Italy > Switzerland) and back with AC on.

57mpg long term so far in 6300 miles. My driving routine is 2 miles to work and 2 miles back to my place every day so it's killing my economy.

3 door S3 facelift, average mpg is 36 over 11k miles.

The majority of my driving is on the motorway, the 7th gear on the s tronic really does help with economy.

Round town normal roars around 24 mpg

SB 2.0 TDI S Line Quattro Auto 184 (?)

Get the new S3 next week (it’s at the dealer!!) so bracing myself and my wallet......

2017 1.5 S-line, average around 40mpg with an average speed of 18mph

3 s3’s in the last 3 years and all averaged 31-32mpg over a total of around 35k Miles, with a lot of motorway and dual carriageway driving but majority of journeys in the 10-15 mile range

46 to the gallon will soon become a dim and distant memory

35mpg in town (makes no difference whether stop start on or off so is permanently off now)
48mpg cruising at 70mph (ish...)
best 52mpg on a long run when I was early for a meeting

It will........I based my new S3 running costs on 30mpg, but forgot that Petrol is 3p a litre cheaper, so I’m quids in

24mpg 3.500 miles in. Mostly short trips <20km. I didn't buy an S3 for the fuel economy :car::dashsymbol:

I averaged 32 mpg in the S3 in the 2.5 years I owned it, manual transmission and mainly in and around town driving. The A5 is meant to be more economical, yet I'm getting 27 mpg in the same conditions!!!

2013 A3 1.4TFSI getting about 55 mpg on my way to work on a good day. Average about 45 if I mix between eco and a good blast every now and again.

90% short journeys in town with traffic. Averaging 23mpg but overall after 10,000 in a year it’s sitting at 15mpg.

For real fun, put the OBC into fuel constant read out. Select dynamic then nail it, not recommended for people of a nervous disposition :tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:

Used to like doing that in the R32, think it went down to about 4mpg. May have to try it in the S3 later on.

Some years ago I had a Mazda 3MPS which had a turbo 2.3 litre four pot and I could get that down to 4mpg that said I averaged about 23 mpg. :wtf:Haha

I've got a 1.6 TDI on a 62 plate and I've always been disappointed with mpg. I had a 61 plate 1.6 TDI (8p) and it did 60mpg without any effort and often exceeded. The 8v gets about 52-55mpg on average and I've now done 75K so I can't see it changing now.

Average 27, but most short journeys in London traffic I get about 16...

exactly the same here!! I mostly do shorter runs and i tend to enjoy it a lot with the right pedal, def did not by it to be careful and economical.
Thats the job for the A3 model.

1.4 (140ps) petrol manual.
Average over 33k miles = 46.7mpg.

2.0tdi 184ps manual
As low as 48mpg and high as 70 playing the mpg game....
realistic average of approximately 54mpg over 40k- no trips shorter than 20 miles usually

That's poor given my A4 gives me this on my commute:
