Filler cap not unlocking

Twice now I've gone to fill up the wife's 2.0TFSi and the filler flap wouldn't unlock. I looked in the manual in case I'd missed something especially since it's an S-tronic (parking brake on, gearbox in park, etc). All the doors unlocked no problem.

After a bit of lock/unlock faffing it did eventually release.

Is this a known problem?

Not read about anything particular to what you describe and the A4, probably just a connection issue or a problem with the locking solenoid..

We had it on the S5, dodgy solenoid or something. You can still unlock it as if you open the boot there is a pulling mechanism hidden under a cover on the RHS which opens it in an emergency.

It was a fairly common problem on the b8 A4 platform, and I know a couple of guys with A6's who had this issue as well.

Update: so, I tried the emergency release in the boot that's not working either. The wife took it to the dealer (it's her car) who confirmed the latch has broken.

They removed the it and seemed think this was an acceptable fix until they can look at it at the first available appointment in two weeks time:

To say I'm furious is an understatement. I can't believe they let the car leave like this.

Oh wow, what dealer was that? That's unbelievable

I'm surprised they didn't take the part from donor car, however if the car wasn't formally booked in for the work there might be mitigating reasons for the temporary repair.

Having seen this post, I must get out of the habit of letting the car go 20 miles past the point the range goes to "0"........that's the point mine actually stops running :tearsofjoy:

Sure I seen this on Twitter AudiUK.

Get on the phone to Audi Assist, tell them you want it recovered to dealer as you cannot refuel. Dealer then has 48hrs to look at it and Audi Assist provide a replacement car until yours is fixed.

But that is untrue, the car can be refuelled and not immobile. You think they'd miss the fact that the filler flap can now be opened when they turn up and make there assessment?

I emailed Audi Customer Services on Tuesday evening after getting nowhere with @AudiUKCare twitter account (they obviously don't) and Audi Assist (aka The AA). So far no response to my email, I guess they think I'm making a mountain out molehill.

To be honest, the dealer network and the Audi UK have always been the unpleasant side of Audi ownership. From my car history below you'll see I've owned every generation of A4 and it's always been this way.
