Hi All,

Not sure why I haven't joined the forum before now.
Have been a serial Audi driver the latest 20 years and had all sorts across the range.
I swapped my S8 for a Jag a few months back and was missing Quattro so bought a really neglected 2004 A4 2.5 Quattro Avant at auction.

It needs lots doing but is a good spec and a bit of a project.

My wife is not impressed ... but I am itching to get stuck in.

Thank you! Not taken any photos yet but will add some asap.
Started to gather parts ... bonnet release snapped off, that arrived today along with pollen and air filter.
It needs a really good service ... I did take photo of the pollen filter.

The pollen filter needs renewing for sure but isn't as bad as you think 'cause it was grey to begin with .

I can totally understand what you are going through, lovely base to start with, I have used avants instead of getting a van in the past and it makes a lot of sense if you are moving items of size instead of weight, looking forward to seeing the project progress

I wish the weekend would get here so I can start to dig in. Having fun gathering parts though ..

I do have a soft spot for them. This isn't a sensible save in reality but hopefully I will have some luck.
I bought a brand new 1.8 T sport saloon in 2004 in the same colour, so has some nostalgia for me also.

Welcome along mate.

Love projects like this, as you say may not be a sensible save but it's great to see someone rescue a well specced car that has been in decline. Fair play to you.

Thank you ... I might not be the best with the spannering but I do give things a go and farm out anything too complex. Hoping most of the work isn't too testing. I do enjoy getting my hands dirty.
Picked up a set of alloy wheels tonight. Most service items have arrived and going to order the rocker cover and injector seals once i have had a probe at the weekend.

Not yet .. still in the back of another car. Been flat out since I picked them up.
I am really lucky ... they are in stunning condition. Three barely marked, one unused spare and another recent new alloy previous owner bought when they kerbed a wheel.
But .. they are off an A3 so I think the offepset is wrong. Might end up not using them .. will see what they look like, and post a pic. I could get spacers .. not sure it's a good idea

Won't be a issue running spaces I always do just make sure they are hub centric and you use longer bolts and your be sweet

I probably will unless something quickly pops up. Might try to swap for correct size but they are nice so likely will run them with spacers. Pretty sure will need to.

I'd ideally like some of the original Sport alloys I had on my new one in 2004. Not sure what they are called but 5 flattish spokes.
Need too check the engine issues can be sorted before looking at too many upgrades. So stopping looking a bit

Tried uploading a photo but it won't let me for some reason.
Will try to find another.
Shall fit the ones I bought in the week at the weekend all being well.
I know the ones I really want are not RS6, they flare out I think?

These are the wheels I bought ..
