Hi guys,They say it never rains, but pours. Although could be worse, I'm to have some luck now. I feeling like that this year. Not only have i been going through a divorce which is enough stress. I have ended up having a shoulder operation, i came out of hospital and the following day i went to the shop with my brother. Just wanted to get out the house. We were gone for a hour at the most. Of course i couldn't drive, so my S3 was left on the drive. This usually means i'm in, as my S3 goes everywhere with me. We most of been watched, the intruders were there within 10mins of us leaving at 11am. They came through the back, unbolting the back gate. My dog was shut in the dining room and would of gone mad. I'm sure he prevented them from breaking through the back of the house. They continued unbolting the side gate and went to the front. Now i live on a main road, with a open graveled driveway. They pulled the bin and propped the lid open leaning against the bay window for some cover. Before using a pointed stone and shattered the first pane of glass. Luckily a friend turned up and disturbed them. I arrived home and was mortified. I live on my own and now unsettled. I just wished i had of caught them in the act and i'm sure they were after my keys for the car. The police also think they were after my car. So many things going through my mind. Why my house, my neighbour was out all day. Why risk going to mine, my car is on the drive. I had a very angry aggressive dog, that they did not want to confront. They risked in daylight on a busy road to try and get in the front of the house. At a time when a postman or anyone could have turned up. I just want to find and sort them. I know my dog will recognise them if he sees them on a walk. They must be local as they knew the layout to get to the rear gardens. So angry and upset. Looking at improving my security now. Looking at cameras and a steering lock for my car.

Sorry to hear about this, glad to hear they didn't get it, definately sounds like some good luck is due your way.

Yeah, hope you get some good luck your way, do you need to lock your dog away when your out or can you let it have the run of the house?

Glad to hear all was ok in a sense as your never to sure why they came in the first place , so now i would be looking at light sensors that alarm if anybody crosses them + CCTV would be another opition

Sorry to hear that. Some people are ********.

So sorry to hear this, but glad both yourself and your car are untouched.

As you say,you must have been watched to be able to time an attempt so closely....security is one thing, and from past burglaries,I can remember the police saying that the best you can do is to make it time consuming and difficult,so they're less likely to try in the first place.

Sorry to hear mate, there are some right cowardly, pathetic, low life c**** out there! At least you, your dog and car are all ok.

Like others have said, use as many deterrents as possible to help your chances.

I live in an area which car crime is common and leaving my keys in my kitchen with my Rottweiler so far (touch wood) has done the job. Does your drive have a gate? maybe one of them built in bollards which you can put up and down?

Thanks guys for you kind words and advice. I've now got a stop lock on and you can see it clearly from the road. That's one good detterent at least. And the keys for that are not on my car keys. I'm looking into CCTV but does that make your property more attractive?? Do they then think you have you more than your neighbours to protect ?? Who knows.
Near to me a dog got stolen the other day. I know my dog wouldn't go quietly. He's still young and sadly can't trust him fully to have the run of the house yet.
All i know is around me they are bang at it. So if you live in Leicestershire then lock everything away.

So. They want yr car. They will get yr car if they want to. My advice is to sell the car and buy a banger. Yes you can put cameras up but they'll then just follow you and car jack you away from the cameras.

I understand that would be the reply. Because I had the same issue and bought a sleeper. Result was no interest from the scroats and I could sleep at night. Police rnt interested so why have the hassle.

Check out AutoWatch Ghost - car is not going anywhere even with the keys. They would need to lift the car to take it.

wouldnt bother with cctv, waste of time can rarely be used in court, although u can pick a swann system frm maplins for around 200quid,what happens if they turn up with hoodies? cant see faces so police cant do nothing, not that would do anyway, just buy a ultrasonic alarm; clifford etc... which chirps when the thief is within 2-3 ft of your car and goes off if they don't move away within a few seconds............................... also wheel clamp would b a good deterrent, just make sure you dont forget to remove when you drive off!!! but an mentioned previously put 2 much security they'll just jack the car when your in it as alot easier than going through all the security!!!!

It's good to hear you are ok and still have your car. No pearls of wisdom from me though, as mentioned above, if these r-soles don't care about trying in daylight, there's not much you can do.

No way give in.
I want a lottery win but I don't go burgling for a lottery ticket....
If I went burgling, I would expect a good old wack with a hurtful object if caught.
The moral of the Story is there.
Keep a claw hammer under your bed!
*for midnight screw removal obviously
