What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

I've never had the misfortune of doing one of these before, but it looks the same both sides ..... just did a quick google image search & they all look pretty much the same as the one on mine ?

Hmm, maybe they have updated the part due to their notoriety of getting them out? Or more likely that I'm wrong and I'm thinking of the Passat B5.5 ones, it would make sense the bolt is different due to the B6 having alloy hub carriers.

I couldn't say either way about the B5.5 or B6.... Just glad I didn't have to deal with the nightmare scenario of having to remove the pinch bolt.

I have and it's no fun, I had to drill it through all the way, the other side I took to the garage and they gave it some heat from the oxy acetylene torch, two good hits and it flew out, the top arms were being changed anyway, so not a problem.
It's a different scenario with alloy hub carrier.

The pinch bolt comes out with heat and air hammer... but that requires to take the entire assembly out..
Did it a few weeks ago..

Just to clear things up, had all my wheels off today to clean the insides of them, the pinch bolts look exactly the same as yours, I was wrong my apologies

Go Eibach Pro kit .

Just bought and soon to be fitted.. are they any good? Says only 30mm drop, but they look low to me..
Going to compare them to the fitted springs..
They are too low for my taste(and age apparently)

Eibach are very good, a 30mm drop will be very nice.
Would have gone Eibach myself but couldn't seem to find a -40mm kit

You fit what you want mate and don't listen to anyone who would tell you that!

They make the sport line version which is lower than pro kit..

My car is at the moment about lowered 55mm which is too low for me

For some reason I couldn't see them for the B6 cabriolet max was -20mm which is standard Sline height.

Gutted the pre cat this week - ****** hell access on the 2.5 TDI is a total PITA.

Also swapped out my MAF.

Added a nice turbo back SS exhaust with 200 cell sports cat from 034, With any luck, I'll figure out how to upload the video.
Nope. No luck, security error. Maybe an admin could explain best way.

Here's a swatch from Simon's Custom Exhausts in East Kilbride.

Does the engine/turbo feel more responsive with the 034 cat?
I've been thinking of going this route rather than a de-cat.

It does feel more resposive but I think that's more to do with me loving the sound and booting it in every gear. If anything, I'd say that the power comes in a bit quicker, say 3.5k to 4k revs instead of 4k to 5k. Remap next.

So I fitted some new suspension yesterday, after carefully measuring the ride height on a flat surface it needed to come down 20mm front & rear. Seeing as the Sline models are 20mm lower than standard I needed to get get a -40mm kit.
I went for the ST 40/40 kit, it replaces the Weitec ultra GT kit & as they are both made by KW the quality is still there.
Fitting was this kit was both relatively easy & frustrating, the fronts was pretty easy as I avoided the dreaded pinch bolt & it took about 20 minutes to get the strut out (no impact gun).
The rears were a different story, the amount of stuff that has to come off to get the spring out is crazy , wheel arch liner, shock (obviously) handbrake cable, caliper, droplink, top control arm, loosen off rear subframe mount & thats without having to deal with rusted & seized bolts.
Still got it all done & am very happy with the ride & the stance now, although I might need to change the rear spacers to 12 or 10 mm due to a slight bit of rub sometimes.

Before,

during,

After,

Awesome Awesome work Jonni! :)

Changed number two coil pack as it died, not so bad I had a brand new spare in the glovebox. Tip of the day to find which one is the culprit, disconnect the injectors one at a time, you'll know which one because when you disconnect the good ones the engine will struggle, when you disconnect the duff one, there's no change in the way it's running.

Jonni, get yourself one of those wheel arch rollers. I did my fronts after having to fit bigger spacers to house the Brembos. Only took an hour or so and works great now.

Sprento, the fronts are fine as are the backs now they have some negative camber dialed in

Have you found that the rears settle in straight away but the fronts are higher ?

To be fair the fronts always sit a little higher (or at least look like they do) on B6's, unless you go the coilover route.
But I'm really happy with the stance & it's not to dissimilar to standard Sline suspension in the comfort stakes.

Fronts should always have a bigger gap to allow for the turning of front wheels hense the front arches are actually taller .

Currently mine's the opposite..

The rear sits a bit higher.. the front is way too low for me(now) also the reason why I'm replacing with Eibach 30mm

Looks better! Mine I think is in a worse state - I had to repair the lights for the MOT in march which became a mad rush to bodge in an A3 bulb holder as the A4's disintegrated...

I still want to replace this before next march and sooner rather then later with the weather. Can I ask how much and where you got your replacement from?

Anyone know the best place to get these?

My number plate lights are held in with black tape haha true story.

Could always try the parts request feature & ask for a price before committing ........

I got the led lights and holder/cluster off ebay, Audi dealer on ebay for £40 with free next day delivery, Led lights £12 ish delivered (not just the bulbs but full led lights)
Worth it when they are done, I took the rubber/sponge seal off the back of the led lights and put black sealant on them and then sealed over the screw heads to keep the weather out for good, looks better because its all black under led,s apart from the led lamp part.
Cluster comes with new rubber seal on back but I put a small run of sealant on inner side behind the seal to keep more weather out, if led lights keep working it should never need replacing again hopefully.

Thanks for the info - will probably get this done later this month - just sticking in a Android headunit so perfect time to pop in the reversing camera/led unit.

I changed the crankcase breather pipe, this one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Breather-...e=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649
There's not much room to work, easiest way to remove is to break the original (doesn't take much effort) then remove the rest of pcv pipes and clean them out before replacing with the new part. Parts removed for install, coolant reservoir, throttle body, inlet boost hose, inlet manifold support bar, remove 3 x 10mm bolts holding n248 and n80? solenoids so the bracket can be lowered for more room. More awkward than hard though.

So it's done..
Complete suspension renewal, except rear bushings.
Replaced dampers and springs front and rear, Sachs sport dampers and Eibach pro-kit.
Dampers were shot.. But ok, they were from 2003 and done 255k km...
Also replaced rear eccentric bolts so the suspension can be set with ease..
Quite some work, but now it's done..
Completely a different car. Absorbs potholes and bumps much better, and the front is raised about 20-30mm

There's nothing like a suspension replacement to transform a car. Well done mate.

Here's some pictures..
I already fitted winter wheels as the summer wheels are bent and shakes the car like crazy.
