A4 B7 cab on 57 plate.

I've already taken out my concert head unit and replaced with a pioneer sph-da120.
Sound quality is ok, but I t just doesn't cut the mustard with the roof down though, as i've still got the standard speakers fitted.

I'm not willing to pay 4 figures for a custom system, so the next best option I have is the Bose system.
I've priced up a few complete systems, but have a few questions on installation.
1, Can I pull out the standard speakers and plug the Bose ones straight in on the same lines and connections?
2, Is the amp install a diy job, and if so can anyone advise on how to.
3, I'm also going to add one maybe two under seat subs, so will that mean upgrading the amp anyway, or is it capable of handling these additions?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I have same age car model and stereo as you.
The problem is the HU has an high output but going through amp a lot lower, so you are not getting the full potential through the speakers.
Make sure your settings are correct too. I've had my new HU 3 weeks and still not completely happy with the sound. After 20 mins at the stereo shop this morning they made adjustments on the EQ and speaker set up and it is 100% better.

Hi, I have an 07 plate with the Bose system and I have to say that I'm not overly enamoured with it. It does get the sound through with the hood down but I think that has mostly to do with the three speakers on the dashboard being well powered (sound stage is quite far forward). The whole system has its own amp in the boot which will probably be a fair bit of hassle to retrofit, but not impossible of course.

If I bought another Cab without the Bose I think I'd look elsewhere for a sound system, the bass is a bit lacking (IMO and compared to the systems I used to put together in my youth anyway) on mine. It shouldn't cost the earth to replace the 7 (?) speakers with half reasonable ones from pioneer or whoever and amp them in pairs from your current head unit, you could even split the door speaker and same sided dash speaker with crossovers to get best bass response from the door speaker (the Bose ones are 8" I believe so if you can fit ones that size you should be well on your way). There's a guy on eBay selling stealth sub enclosures for B6 cabs which should fit our boot if you really want some welly. Let me know if you want a link or any other info.

I would avoid going bose, adds complication especially with the 2 ohm speakers

Decent box in the boot with a port and amp, add in amp for the 4 speakers you replacce.
Go decent brand
If i had my way i would rip the BOSE out and refit but its linked to my NAV on dash etc
