I have a 62 plate S3 with rns-e (navigation plus) stereo and AMI in the glove box.
I want to be able to play music from a USB flash stick, so have bought a cable off ebay.
With it plugged in the stereo recognises it, but will not display or play any mp3s.
I have formatted the flash stick to fat32 and tried just a couple of albums on it, but no joy!
am I doing something wrong or have I got a duff cable???

I have received a replacement cable of the ebay seller, and it behaves exactly the same...

am I missing something here???

My 2012 a3 doesn't play MP3 files for some reason too. Will play normal audio files no problem.

Is your name Daniel?

it will play mp3s from an sd card ok, but doesn't like the flash stick through the cable!?

it might be worth trying to reformat your stick and change to NTFS and see if it reads your stick as your unit might now accept this format as it is a newer model you have

though I would update this...
Bought another cable off ebay, a genuine audi one this time (only £4), it now works!

Still have the annoying problem of albums getting arranged into alphabetical order rather than the order they are originally, if anyone knows how to sort this out please tell me!

when you put your Albums on your stick via computer check you havent got them sorted in ascending order as i would think thats why there in alpabetaitcal order or it might be in your sticks properties on computer when installed in usb
