Goodyear Eagle F1's

14k miles in and they have 3-4mm left on them (maybe slightly more on the rear) after a few drag days and a trip to the ring and back.

I've got a 2WD TSFI, but I put Pilot Sport 3s on it - as they have the rubbing strips that semi-protect the rims. Got them from Black Circles and then fitted locally at one of their agents, had not used BC before and they have good service.

Checkout Tyreleader. co uk.

Cheaper than Blackcircles :-D

Why are people choosing a 7 year old design tyre ?
God knows mate, ps3's were very good tyres when they were released and are still decent today. They're not a patch on pss and ps4s though and not even much cheaper either!

Mine already came with the car when I purchased it, didn't realise they were seven years old! Think there is still quite a bit of tread left so could be a while before I change (might be ten years old considering the mileage I do!).

It's just a 7yr old design with 7yr old compound formula and technology, doesn't mean they will be 10 yrs old.

All tyres have a date mark on them that is 4 numbers in a sort of oval box.

The first 2 numbers are the week they were made out of 52 and the last 2 numbers are the year so for example if they say 2716 they were made in the 27th week of 2016

Has the Michelin PS4 still have the same generous rim protector as the PS3 had ??

It definitely does as I found out last week!

I've got 245/35/19 on an 8.5" rim so have a little tiny bit of stretch. I rubbed along a kerb parking up last week and my heart sunk. I jumped out absolutely fuming with my self and there wasn't a mark on the wheels

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 3's
Just had the rears done with these today. Not as much rim protection as the 2's but if they are anywhere near as good as the 2's I'll be well happy.

I've got them on the front of my a4 and my Leon. Rim protection seems better than most tyres I've had. My only thing i don't like is the rounded walls.

Haven't ran them myself (as they don't come in my size at the mo') but I'd go Michelin Pilot Sport 4S as I had Pilot Sport 3's on my original wheels which were incredible and hear allot of good things about the new version. Pricey but I guess you get what you pay for and they could save allot of money if they stop you ending up in a bush haha that's how I always see it.

I have 245/35/19 Uniroyal Rainsports all round and they are impressive, the size seems to suit the S4 19" wheels a bit better as it has the tiniest amount of stretch

Well the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 are on - Initial impressions are they seem much nicer than the standard contact3's that were on there for the last 9500 miles - no more tram-lining which was ruining the S4 experience for me since new.

7 year old design tyre Vs a 1 year old design .

Why are people running 245/35/19, my understanding the correct size for our cars is a 255/35/19? The wrong size will throw the speedo and odometer out a little surely??

Exactly the same experience as me; the car came from the factory on ContiSport 3s, which I hated. Swapped them for the Maxx RT2s at 13,000 miles, much nicer car.

I'm on 245 as my wheels are a lower et than standard, I wanted a little less side wall and the tinyest bit of stretch. Also the ps4s are quite a wide tyre so didn't want to have any risk of rubbing.
