hey guys, just bought a tt the temp gauge rises quite high and I thought all audis ran at 90 and never rise unless there's an issue like my A3 where the water pump fell apart lol so basically is this normal or am I looking at replacing the usual cts, thermostat and cambelt and water pump? I don't really fancy doing them as I've only just bought the car. Any info would be great.....

Hi Z,

I've got a 2013 Mk II TT and the highest temperature I've ever seen is 90C. As far as I know, you are correct that Audis generally run steadily at 90. The 2008 A3 I used to have also ran at that temperature.

Hello buddy,
Thank you for your reply, yeah I'm pretty sure it shouldn't go past 90 but it has always dropped back down so I'm not quite sure? Just want it to be spot on before I give it some stick It also had some strange 3prong spark plugs fitted and has push down coils when it should have bolt down ones? I've fitted double platinum plugs and gapped them to the o.08 or 0.28 whatever it was meant to be lol just chipping away at the small things first....

Anyone else care to weigh in? Anyone had any experience with tt' as I've never even worked on one.

Al add some info if that helps, its 2001-2002 225bhp tt pretty much stock when I bought it two weeks ago, just been mapped, cone filter, new spark plugs, has full service history 73,000miles, had a clutch switch. Aircon rad had a hole in also :( if anyone has one let me know

The temp gauge does not show the actual temp. Its characteristics are modified so that it shows 90 (normal) over a spread of actual temps. If the gauge never reaches 90 it is a sign that the thermostat is stuck open. If it starts to read above 90 it is overheating.

Thanks for the reply, it’s doesnt actually over heat, the fan always kicks in? I’ve changed the thermostat, still the same my thoughts are the water pump has failed or just about hanging on as they separate into two don’t they? Don’t really wanna change it if am honest :(

Cambelt and water pump changed today no different?
