I've got a A6 MY17 with Carplay (Shares the same MMI software as the A7) and has software version MH12_ER_AU57x_P3236 There is now a retrofit option for carplay but MIB2 is required along with a certain MY
I've been having DAB reception issues and my dealer has offered me an MMI upgrade to the latest s/w release, along with a replacement aerial amplifier module (been on back order for 2 weeks now) mine is a 2016MY with MIB2 so was trying to figure out if it would include CarPlay.

You have to at least be on MIB2 - which is the latest LTE MMI with the additional navigation display between the instrument dials. This is on the C7.5 facelift cars.
Anything can be retrofitted, if you have the budget.....

Cheers for that, looking at upgrading to a A7 later in the year and just looking at what mod/retrofits are realistic

You won't get the feature by the software update only, the carplay requires license, as Audi have to pay Apply & google for each activation.

So Ive had my MMI software updated to the latest available for my car (2016 S7)
The previous version was MHI2_ER_AUG11_P0040
Its now MHI2_ER_AUx_K2570
It does not give any CarPlay functionality.
