My car is fast approaching 10 months old and I've done 4000 miles in it.
I check my oil level (via the MMI) every month.
Since day one it has shown a solid white line from bottom to the top with the wording "Oil level okay"
Is it realistic that the car has used no oil at all?

Many thanks
Mike.

Well I'm the same! I grew up with dipsticks and feel much happier seeing for myself that the oil level is OK. I'm now 7500 miles in and apparently still full of oil. In fact, mine is telling me that I shall need an oil change in 1500 miles. At this rate I won't need to top up before the new oil is put in.

As my son kept telling me when I would argue with the satnav, "Dad, you've just got to learn to trust it!"

If it makes you feel any better, there is one, just look in front of the steering wheel :D

I've got 6500 on the clock now, and noticed the old 710 fluid level has dropped slightly on the MMI display compared to when I picked it up new, but it's still reading as 'OK'. Just have to have faith that car will tell you when it needs something, and keep a top up bottle in the car just incase ;)

Did you not have one supplied with the car? Both my A4 and my previous A3 had one and the A4 also has a nice pouch as well...

Indeed mine did, and it was nicely placed under the floor to rattle about like mad.

Thanks Chaps.
I feel a little more at ease.
I had a Skoda a few years back and the Litre of oil they supplied with the car came in a pouch complete with a Velcro strip to stick on the side of the boot. Fortunately I kept it when I sold the car...the pouch not the oil...and that's in me boot now with the Audi oil. Looks like I'm never going to need it!

I'm at just over 15000 miles in one year, and not had to put any more oil in.

Just checked at 5,500 miles and showing close to min getting a bit concerned as I put a litre in at 2,500 miles, anybody any thoughts? Never had a car drink oil like this....

The MMI system measures only the first litre out of 5 (if I remember correct), if its low you still have over 4 litres.
Don't worry your car won't seize up it's 2017 lol

Ah, ha but IMO its drinking oil compared to any car I have had including Imps, Mini's and a Land Crab....

Engines do tend, when they are new, to consume more oil. Having said that I will check mine but I expect you'd get a warning if the oil level was too low. Having said that, if the car has SOS and you lived in the States you could do this from your phone app..

As @cuke2u states, new engines can 'use' oil, but that doesn't mean there is something wrong if they don't! If there is significant oil loss then there is something wrong. Unfortunately this can include badly bedded piston rings, even without the problems that Audi had on the earlier 2.0 TFSI engines.

Yeah my a5 conv needed a complete rebuild was without it for a month, will kill me if my S4 has it too, I highly doubt that though

Extremely doubtful, they modified the engines quite some time ago. No other forum is showing concern about the ea888 gen3b engine fitted to the A4. The s4 of course has a completely different engine which I understand is a completely newly designed one..

+1 - At 17,500 for my first service I never had to top-up oil in that time. In fact, I've only ever looked under the bonnet twice in the 8 months of ownership!

I have a bottle of oil but no pouch, I've wedged it in the spare wheel compartment to stop it rattling around

But that doesn't necessarily mean that they got it right!

In general the B8 3.0 TFSI doesn't consume oil, but there have been some cases. Usually down to PCV failure but I also suspect that some have badly bedded piston rings, maybe because of a too gentle run-in of the new engine.

One would hope they've learned their lesson but then nothing is totally fool proof...
