Feva's A4 Black Edition

How you finding it with the DPF out and map Mark?

Would love a map in mine...but dont really fancy a 'bodge' job of the DPF being knocked out. (much rather buy a aftermarket downpipe)

Can only base it on the wife's car Chris90, which was very responsive and fast before.
Don't have much knowledge or any history of getting anything like this done before mate, but wouldn't call it a bodge job. He's left everything looking oem so I'll have no issues with MOT's. Ciaron the guy who runs the company was very knowledgeable and mega helpful. As said before he offered a choice of maps, I personally choose similar map and more mpg. Which it has given up to at least 10mgp with no difference in performance of the car. If anything I think it feels more responsive.
After this would love to get mine done, he said mine would involve removal of the gearbox to gain full access to dpf as the gearbox blocks it. Unfortunately I've other things the money is earmarked for otherwise it would be in.

Lad at work his nephew has had bmw done off him couple of years ago and he loves it.

I heard the gear box thing before when i was ringing around, but mine was accessed from the top of the engine rather than from underneath, by removing the EGR cooler and air box, no need to remove the gear box :)

He did ask which version of the b8 I had? Told him it was the 8.5, he said if it's the led front lights it's removal of gearbox. Not sure if the dpf is located different between the 8 and 8.5 but I'll definitely keep what you've said @Meemo in mind if and when I get it done. Cheers

Bobby singh would know :)
yeah allot of places said gear box out, but a few said from the top, so i took that a sign of experience of that engine and only considered the ones who said they do access from the top.
not sure, i was under the impression it was only a facelift, and same engines.
mine is CAHA 170 if that helps, and has LED lights all round, dont see any reason it would differ after face lift from just that.

No I can't see that there would be any difference personally. He main business is a remap/tuning but is a bmw specialist as well.

if you are set on that tuner maybe chat to him about trying to access from above, he may have of never thought of that way before as to be fair you logically access from underneath with most DPF engines, you will make his life easier in the long run if he has an easier way going forward with our pain in the butt layout :)

Wonder what ELSAWIN says.

Looks tight on my 4wd CGLC...but bet it could be persuaded out easily enough.

He said he does it from the underneath of the dpf so there is no signs of it being touched.

I havent really looked at mine since, I am curious now :p
the guy who had mine out, cut the flap above so if inspecting underneath you cant see (i was in the workshop at this stage so saw what they was doing), and the air box/egr cooler are in the way to look in from above, but in all honesty havent inspected closely enough after it went back in!

Such a nice day in the North East, so drove the car out of the garage, washed it, put it back
Then walked to the pub

So road trip to visit my mam at Kyle of Lochalsh (near the Isle of skye) 7.5hr drive.

Everything except the kitchen sink.

This car is ****** brilliant, so great to drive.

Came back an absolute mess, crap everywhere, crisps and biscuits all over.

Full clean inside first, fully washed seats, mats and carpets.

Next job exterior clean (doesn't look that bad, but was filthy)

Snow foamed, rinsed, washed (with new wookie wash mitt)

Topped up wax with dojo juice diamond white wax, then overcoated with collinite 845 wax.

Happy now but forecast rubbish from tomorrow

Well I might be a bit biased but I think the one you linked is the best one really ...... As for the DPF issues just make sure it gets a nice long run once a month and it will clean itself and everything will be fine ...

Welcome to the forum...
Hello there, what would you class a long run ? Many miles we talking ?

If it's for cleaning the dpf, think you are supposed to get it over 2k and keep it there for at least 20mins plus.

Think I need a new cabin filter

Run a bowl of hot water with washing powder, and leave the filter to soak in it for a few hours. Let it dry overnight, and when you put it back in, the car'll smell of Persil. :)

Lad who I'd been introduced to who sells car cleaning stuff gave me a few bits to try today when I popped in to buy a bottle of collinite 845 wax.

Don't know the brand find out later but got extreme snow foam (best stuff I've ever used really thick and clinged for ages)

Snow foamed, rinsed, fallout remover (again not sure of the make)

Wheels mega mega clean (didn't need to wash them) better than bilt hamber stuff I've used before.

Snow foamed again, rinsed

Used shampoo have gave me to try as well (I'll find out all these makes and post later)

All done and it ****** down once I'd dried it so not time for fresh coat of wax

Hi @feva , been doing some Searching on here on Snow Foaming, Washing etc etc as very new to washing cars myself, well, will be around mid Feb, and came across these posts of yours.

What's the photo with the red streaks on it on the body panels? Was that the Fallout Remover? (What is Fallout remover anyway?). Do you just use an everyday power wash unit with a specialised Snow Foam lance/adaptor on it, and, is it cold water?

Great photos and posts. Made me more enthusiastic about washing myself rather than going to the local car wash spot!!

Thanks and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!

Hi Gary

Sorry I didn't pick up your post earlier newer phone hadn't set up the forum on it.

Fallout remover just takes all the crud off (iron particles, tar etc) really good, just use it now and again.
I've got a nilfisk pressure washer, use a snow foam lance with the correct adapter for my pressure. Put snow foam in the bottle and fill with warm water.

Once you start washing it and taking pride in what you're doing your product range will start to increase.

Post some pics Gary

And a happy new year to you too

Thanks for the reply @feva .

I take it you still hook up the pressure washer to hosepipe/water supply?

Yes Gary, use the pressure as normal just with an attachment like this on the end.

Well folks don't hate me. I've sold the audi and bought my childhood dream car. Had lots of holidays planned this year but covid put a stop to that. So with the money (planned) the wife said "treat yourself" be rude not too.
Went towards a ford mustang

I've bmws before this audi and always moved on when the car lost its reliability. This a4 was the first car where that wasn't the case. Its never missed a beat (apart from the dmf and clutch issue) would just cruise along merrily. Drove great and imo looked great too.

So after much searching missing out on a few mustangs, finally got this.
It's certainly no bmw or audi (it's a ford after all) but it drives very nice and certainly shifts.
I'll be sticking around if it's OK? As this has been a great forum, great bunch of members who will always help anyone.
