Just thought I'd put this out there as I hate when your talking to someone and they just don't get why we do it!

I know there's plenty of reasons why we all do but..... what are yours???

Because they are never fast enough, loud enough, or low enough from the factory lol:sunglasses:

perfect example....pulled up at traffic lights on way home last night next to another S3....threw it into Dynamic (just in case lol)....floored it away from the lights.....heard this almighty screaming V8....looked across at Lexus RC-F the other side of the S3 thrashing the nuts off his car to get ahead of me....unable to gain any distance on me....very short and satisfying sprint....Stage 2 Audi for the win :)

My car should be only mine and there must not be another one equal. So I have to customize she :)

Also with functional tuning like brakes, springs etc..

The first mass produced car was available in four colours - grey, green, red and blue. Then in 1914 Henry decided you could any colour, as long as it was black (as it was cheaper than coloured bodywork).

Some people wanted individual coloured cars and the modding scene was born.

The rest is history :racer:

I modified mine to optimise the potential, make it individual, gain more enjoyment from the car and as a hobby/interest. I know we get a bad rap/get mocked for being chavs etc but there's far more to it than silly wheels, silly suspension and loud exhausts. Some of my earlier motors were a bit more lairy though...

After 6 months I found the standard car to be a bit dull to be honest and rather than selling it and loosing a shed load of cash I set about unleashing its full potential and embarked upon a mod frenzy LoL - the rest is history !

Set out to keep it subtle and not shouty though and I think my mods have achieved that. Car is still well balanced with mods to engine, suspension and brakes.

As an engineer in the auto industry im naturally inquisitive too so I enjoy understanding how things work and their limitations generally to a mass produced budget, world markets and to maximise carry over content.

This reminds me of the history around Nascar / Stock car racing scene... boot leggers running moonshine would modify their cars during the 1930's to out run the authorities. In the 1940's the cars had reached a stage that the boot leggers would orgnise races between themselves to prove who had the fastest and best car. Racing on dirty oval and cross country man made tracks... the rest as they say is history.

I mod my car to make it more personal to myself. I like different seats. Audi seats are very good but I like recaro buckets better.

Me too.

I miss the buckets I had in my 8P, why oh why aren't they available on the 8V?

Any pics Sandra ?

Enjoyed the Recaro buckets in my old Clio Trophy quite similar looking to the shell seats in the latest Focus RS.

Oh how I miss those bucket seats of the 8P - and I knew I would.

The Super Sport seats of the 8V are "nice", but they do not hold you like those buckets, especially the bottom section. They are also, for me, very uncomfortable on a long journey.

I'd done a search for Recaro Buckets (out of interest), but was just wondering about leather matching up etc.

LoL .... pics ?

lol, I'd have to try to find the pictures its not a pretty sight. I also have a renault 5 turbo at 18 in pearl white with 'move over' back to front on the bumper so people could read it in the mirors.... oh dear.
Mate bough plastic bonnet vents from hlfords and stuck them to his escort and one of the blew off as we were driving somewhere.
I'd like to think i have a little more taste now, always less is more.

What do you say to those who ask or look at you stupid when you say "I've done this that etc" ?

I get really pi**ed when I reel of what I've done and they just say "but it's only an Audi"! Ha

I did the same, although the plan was to put the carpet ones back in after the winter but the rubber ones are so much easier to clean and you don't have to wait hours for them to dry after a good clean.
