oh wow i found the front grill a PITA job and dont want to ever do another one.
so took me far longer than planned, put it all back on and reversed out the garage and the parking sensor for front is flashing, and when you drive forward this error message shows.

do you think its the connection at the bottom of the bumper, im sure i heard it clicked into place. i hope i havent got to take the hole bumper out again. i guess there not position specific, i may have swapped them around but they didnt seem to match the original bumper. still got to the colour the sensors to match the grill.

Still undecided on the side vents, i might get them gloss black too.

That grill looks great

thanks, yeah really happy with how it looks, not happy at the prospect that the front sensors not working...

would i reccommend anyone else doing it...no way lol

Pity about the sensor issue, but looks like it was worth the effort though. If I do end up buying one I'd be looking to the same mod.

What was PITA bit, getting the bumper on/off or changing the grill?

"Well jell", as the kids say these days.
Hope you get the front sensor issues sorted easily.

i;ll took lots of pictures for a write up, weirdly i downloaded a couple and maybe they were made for people that are familer with taking bumpers off cars but the taking off wasnt too hard but i struggled with getting the grill back on and i guess as i was tied it was even worse getting it on the car and tidied back up. should of left it but car was half hanging out the garage, grill is a nightmare to get out, and get back even worse lol

Jungle650 don't suppose your around today are you...Can't get my sensors to work at the front

Quick question...There isn't a up or down for the sensors is there..Noticed in the original bumper the sensors are mounted the other way around. The connector is on the outside of whereas on the eBay grill the sensors are mounted the other way around

Had all the bumper off again, took both sensors out and then the connector for the electrics at the front and nothing still the same...

Right now I'm regretting touching it if I'm honest. Light flashing on the front sensors parking button so i haven't check the fuse but assuming this wouldn't light up without it. Fitted really. And to anyone else wanting to do this mod I'd say get a garage to do it

Sorry can't really offer much help as this is a bit above me

But I also regretted touching something once... was taking apart some of the dash to route a cable to charge my phone near my clearmounts holder. Problem was I'd turned the car on with the centre switch panel disconnected... which has the passenger airbag warning light on it.

After fitting it all back I kept getting an airbag system fault because the car thought it had been tampered with.

Rechecking connections didn't solve anything but all it required was a reset of the warning light which I did by clearing the fault codes using Carista app... maybe worth a look if you have nobody nearby with VCDS but you have an OBD II dongle? Might show up some fault codes leading you in the right direction?

Not guaranteeing it will solve it at all, but maybe worth a shot for a tenner!

As above was just about to suggest it may only need a fault code clearing.

Even after you lock the car the electrical canbus system stays live for 10mins or so.

The sensors emit a cone so should be ok if 180 degrees from OEM grille but not 90 degrees.

thanks all, well i met Joe on here that very kindly hooked it up with VCDs and i have a log of some faults. basically put the orginally grill back on (took ages to get it out and the old one in... I need a shrink now to help my head....

so long and short is ive given up, not many things beat me but this has ...grill is going back and the car needs to go into audi now to have a look.

That's a shame you didn't get it worked out. Hopefully Audi get it sorted

I imagine that the fault is still present even with the original grille in then?

Where abouts are you based? I could have a look at it for you if your close? Edit I'm and ex Audi diag tech, so not a random Joe

It don't have to be specifically the dealer you bought the car from.

You can choose any Audi workshop.

If your warranty is still valid then you are ok you should be covered.

I'm not a Random joe neither the car was scanned the fault code for 10 park/steer assist.

Suggests there is a break in the circuit nothing I could personally do to help rob on this occasion.

Looks like a trip to Audi may well be the only way to resolve the issue.

yeah looks great on, told you it was going to be a pain. Yeah fault still there with the original grill.
Does look good, looks mean! :D

Hopefully you get it sorted free of charge by Audi and then find someone to re-fit the grille (if you don't want to DIY again)

If they were working fine before you took the bumper off then we know it's something that's happened in between, im in Cambridge, so probably 50ish miles away, have you already refitted the old grill? If so a trip to Audi will be your easiest option. Any dealer will do as your warranty is wih Audi not a specific dealer. If you still have the new grill fitted and don't mind a trip to Cambridge I can strip it and take a look

just a quick update, audi rewired the parking sensor and said it was a loose wire so must have been me taking it out.

Not going down that grill again asmuch as i love it, i can take the bumper off and on again in and hour now lol. will try to spray the grill black i think migh tbe easier all round.

however all is not well, didnt notice when i got i the car but some has scratched the leather in my seat im gutted its quite a mark but i just feel audi are going to say well you drove away. Starting to think this car is doom.

got my new plates today, so going to put them on and paint the brake calipers

Ah cool, I've got UltraTek number plates from a company called Hills Number Plates. Had them done through Audi.

lol yeah don't forget about them.

All good take it Audi covered the warranty then?.

exactly what the DTC suggested from the Autoscan.

Out of interest from the info on the work sheet do you know what pin connector was loose?.

Maybe one of these.

(T8v 8-pin connector)

(T14a 14-pin connector)

(T18a 18-pin connector)

You realistically have 24 hours to report a fault, call first thing. They say it is your responsibility to check for these when you collect it, but lets be reasonable.... likelihood of you checking for a marked seat?!

yes they did mate, i didnt actually get to speak to the service guy as i was caught up in traffic and got there 5 mins before they closed so they gave me a form showing it was covered as a goodwill gesture and not under warranty (strange thing to say) but they said to me on the phone it was the wiring loose, and if you push on the sensors from the back it would connect.

might need your services will need to read up on what vcds i can do but i think audi change the flaps back

yeah very strange i got there late, but the lad i had been talkign had gone home, i handed the loaner keys he went off to check it and then came back and handed my keys and said the other service guy had gone over the phone with me hadnt he. so that was it, no showing me around my car, i checked the bonnet etc for scratches and then just got in the car, i cant believe i missed it when i got in i thought they were suppose to put a seat cover over your seats.

Hopefully this works

Shame they did that to your seat! Hopefully they'll get it sorted / pay to have it sorted without any grief

Just looked at those UltraTek plates and they look really good.

The guy told me £21.99+ VAT although as I say it was all sorted by Audi as they were the plates fitted to the car when it was supplied as new. Best to call/email them though mate to find out if there's any suppliers near you

No worries Rob Audi would of followed A GFF to find the problem.

software version management comparison Will show different parameters to factory spec.

Audi Would not of deleted the codings on purpose it just makes the technician job easier.

It has happened to me on a few occasions codings changed back to factory spec.:smirk:
