Just asked Audi UK on fbook and they have told me the following:
"Hi, We can see that production of your vehicle is due to commence next week. Depending on the spec, a new car can take up to ten days to build"
Not sure what to beleive now! lol
I can only judge from what people have said on here and my own experiences, but it shouldn't take that long. It's probably just a standard 'It can take x days' to cover themselves from people moaning all the time.

From panel shop to being ready to leave took mine 4 days. 13th till the 17th. I'm not sure if you know what the status' mean but if not, this is what they mean;
Order Status 00 - Welcome
Order Status 10 - Order Received
Order Status 20 - Preparation
Order Status 21 - Panel Shop
Order Status 22 - Paint Shop
Order Status 23 - Assembly
Order Status 24 - Quality Control
Order Status 30 - 'Your Audi has left factory'
Order status 38 - 'Your Audi is at port of exit (Emden)'
Order Status 39 - 'Your Audi is in the UK'
Order Status 40 - Ready for transport to the dealer
Order Status 60 - Left the UK Port on the way to the dealer
Order Status 70 - Arrived at dealer
i am buzzing!! Surely we only have like 3 weeks to wait now 
I suspect he's going to tell you that your at the UK port (as I just checked) and the good news is that it's arrived at Sheerness which is the closest port for us both!
and now it's a wait from Sheerness port to the dealer. Oddly mine has to go on a transporter to Oxford's sister dealer in Newbury and then on another transporter to Oxford. First I've heard of this sort of nonsense 
don't know what I would've done if I'd had a 3-6 month wait. I'm used to buying nearly new cars which are already at the dealers so put a deposit down and collect a few days after!
