Don't see why you wouldn't be able to get insured bud, should be even cheaper if you're down as a secondary driver because the car isn't yours

Ok cheers mate for the advice. Thats why i joined this forum :). The S3 is an amazing car that id love to drive daily unfortunately i cant get insured on my parents atm. However I have driven it on a quiet road and the performance is fantastic. Big upgrade to the Type R.

You will be paying the same amount as if the car was yours, if not more because the insurance don't like young drivers as additional drivers because they see it as insurance fronting.

Careful with that. If you drive it daily you might become the main driver de facto and to claim otherwise would be a serious offence. Not worth the risk.

Talking insurance!

Work this out, just did a quote for a black editon S3 saloon 310 bhp. I then did a quote for a front wheel drive black edition 2.0 petrol 190 bhp A3 saloon, I used the same company and the same details.

Difference = The S3 was only £15 more!!!

I have 2 NCB, 20 years old and my S3 is cheaper to insure down in London compared to my when I lived in Cheshire last year with my A1.:wtf:.

bought my S3 when i was 20, reasonably high spec, had 2yrs NCB, it cost me 800 pound for the year. however, I do live in a rural area so the postcode may help, occupation also plays a massive part!

Damn, nice one!! Mine is double that with a multicar discount. 19 for me, 2 years NCB and £2600 without discount, £1700 with.

Mine is Electrical Engineer in a Bakery, thought it was a reasonably safe trade?

it depends what they listed you down as, i worked for admiral, and it could end up being that your down as a factory worker etc, which is high.. engineers are reasonably high, due to high stress blah blah, just more crap they can charge you for.. i worked in renewals for 18 months... it got to a point where you just cant justify the price increases other than they want their stock price to be higher...

I filled out the quote online as Electrical Engineer. I did wonder what the downsides were to Engineer, how does stress come into it? Haha.

Insurance are just one big rip off :(

Basically, they say that if you have a stressful occupation, it can mean you're distracted while driving as your mind is else where (load of crap imo) but things like this are actual rating factors, the FCA have no ability to regulate an insurance companies rating factors, which is why quotes from different companies can come in so differently

That's crazy haha, seems as though they really do find any reason to hike our premiums up.

If I am paying the same next year I won't be as bothered, I just hope it doesn't go up :(
