Not needed but sounds like a good road trip !!

I did it on my golf mk7 r for peace of mind last year with decent oil as it's by far the easiest oil change you will ever do no Jack required

What's the wood for? I use an oil extractor so don't have to get dirty at all.

My dealer is changing the oil/filter on my S3 next Tuesday with just over 2,500 km on the clock. Just finicky me, as I am old school and I got a deal on this service upon pick up of the car...50 quid, then on 4 year prepaid factory yearly service intervals for 450 quid which includes 2 major services, 2 minor services and Haldex service at 3 years.
Changing the oil/filter after 2 months is as I said is a bit finicky and probably over the top with modern oils and engine machining, but for 50 quid, it gives me piece of mind.

3 bits of decking each side is enough to get under and take sump plug out don't need to remove under tray i may invest in an extractor though

Not needed no, modern oils are amazing things.
However if you enjoy it and makes you feel good why not.

You can guarantee you still have at least half a litre left in the sump... wrong way to do it!

Don't the dealers suck the oil out instead of dropping the sump plug...I'm sure I read a post about this????

I read that too, but they still charge for sump plugs. If they do, I'm using an independent.

Think this is worth investigation...charging for sump plugs...so surely the oil must be being dropped not sucked out!!!

Yep, I will ask mine on Saturday when I go in. If they don't drop it, I am definitely using my independent.

I can guarantee you're wrong, because I checked.

It wouldnt drain the sump to nearly dry, you're relying on the pickup line getting right to the bottom of the sump. Typically you'd end up changing about half a litre less. It's still bad practice, any contaminants will fall to the bottom of the sump and that's what is left in.

I plan on using an independent for services only did inbetweens in past as was tuned I assume I can take the new s3 anywhere I want as long as they use oem parts ?

Yes, warranty covers it as long as you use genuine parts and have proof of the purchase of those genuine parts. So use an independent that will use TPS as the parts supplier and you are safe.

Only thing is, when coming to sell there is a difference between FSH and full audi history.
