wondering if the back boxes you see on the likes of ebay would work on my 1.9 tdi? now i definitely dont want it to sound like a corsa or saxo with a ridiculous sound people usually fit them for.. do they just boom like that on little petrol engines or will it also be like that on a tdi?

only reason i ask is because some of the ones ive seen are cheaper than doing a backbox delete and buying nice new tips!
 
it wont sound any different if you still have the cats.

i cut the backbox off my old pd130 golf and it sounded NO different.
 
It's already decatted but the middle silencer is still on (and will be staying) .. my main concern was these backboxes are designed for people who want to make their 1.2 corsa sound like a scooby lol..

to be honest, I think i'm just going to go with a backbox delete and find some nice tips
 
you'll only get a bit more owl noise from the turbo, it wont sound like a scooby as its not a flat 4 :p

Be fine mate, id do same as you as a delete looks a bit more chavvy than a nice SS backbox with some tips.
 
does anyone know the diameter of the pipe inbetween the middle silencer and the backbox?
