New to the Forum do I need the ea189 while under warranty?

New to the Audi world with my A6 black edition 2.0tdi

I'm sure it's been talked about but checking the cars history it needs this software update for the scandal. I have read the dangers of doing this upgrade via some other forums. Car Audi warranty runs out at the end of the month so was wondering is it wise to get it done now and if so would Audi be liable for any problems to arise from the upgrade.
