What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

Fixing the buttons up with a black marker can make a world of difference
Only at night it'll stay noticable when the backlights are on, but during the day you can make it look near to invisible from a distance.
Future plans are to replace switches

Fitted summerwheels, vacuumed it and changed the rubber mats to normal "summer" mats

Nice look. Is that just basic vinyl shelf paper?

So its sunday and supposedly gonna hit 60 degree F out in Ct. gonna wax and playing with the VCDS doin complete scan on all modules maybe thatll point me in the right direction as far as why the damn Hazards dont shut off. Wish it was the simple swap of the switch but unfortunately not so the scan pooped out some interesting values think anyone can spend a few minutes with me?

Oh thankyou gents for pointing me out on my stuck hazards. Anyone else that has the issue try this. If you can't get the emergency blinkers to stop. Even if you swapped out the center switch and they still blink all day and night. Take your key put it in the door and unlock it three or four times. Apparently its in need if a reset on your alarm module. Thank-you Audi service of Fairfield CT. I was four days away from swapping the BCM/CCM. Xo

Got to say I love the way the wheels & tyres now fill out the arches, they looked a bit lost in there before.
Also put the R8 coil packs in.

Didnt even see this J0hnny!

Great work mate. Yeah..the difference over stock is SO much nicer. Its crazy how wheels and spacers literally transforms the car.

R8 Coil packs look Great too.

Finally got my private plate.

Cheeky with the lettering ;-)

Front was easy peasy. Rear was a ba*tard. Had to dremel off the hex head rear screw as it kept spinning.

I fitted a new Clutch Switch and replaced the Coolant Temperature Sensor, cheapest quote I had from a garage to do both was £285 plus VAT, via mycarneedsa.com. Thanks to this site and YouTube, saved myself some brass, sensor was £15 and switch was £20 took me about an hour and all done

Finally got round to fitting a new ( used ) rear door lock mechanism, since owning the car, around 11 years now I have had a fault code saying rear door not locking, although the door did indeed lock the door warning and puddle light were intermittent and used to annoy me as I like everything to work as it should, I finally bought a used one off the bay for a bargain price of £10 including post. I now have all lights working and no fault code. :glee:

Fitted the tiny plastic inserts for the luggage carrier in the avant.

Amazing! No more creaks / noises and it no longer shoots open! Best £10 spent in a while!

Had a very nice member from here use his VCDS to reset the airbag light on my cab, it's only been on since last year when I fitted my stereo  ......

Got fed up with the lethargic reaction from the throttle pedal so I bypassed the N249 valve.......much better!

Same.
I fit new springs in mine two weekends ago and its far too low.. I've got new shocks to go on now (front and back) and ordered bump stomps for front as it's bottomed out a couple of times on speed bumps.. Still worried it might still sit too low. Being able to adjust the rear would be great as it's tucked a fair bit!

Finally changed my gearbox oil. Just the rear diff to do but that can wait for another day.

I looked at the a4 , shook my head and thought shall I replace her with an a5 3.0 tdi

I've just had a test drive in a 3.0 black edition A5, very nice but just wasn't the spec I want so the search continues.

They are nice motors, I was also considering a 2.7 with the multtronic but a bit put off by the bad rep of the old multitronic boxes

Took the cab for it's 1st mot since I've had it, straight through with no advisory's .... next up insurance & road tax :frown:

Got stopped by the boys and girls in blue. Had a 'nice' conversation with me about my number plate.

They were adamant a shortened number plate is illegal. Enjoyed explaining this is not the case!..

That is so satisfying, I remember getting stopped in the early hours on the M3 and being told my pressed plates were illegal,
Same as yourself once the correct markings were pointed out not much could be said.

Pressed plates aren't illegal?
Please elaborate. I wanted to get some but was told by a police officer that they are in fact illegal..
It's not a MOT fail or anything?

Providing you have the correct BS markings, issuers postcode, correct spacing and font then they are perfectly legal.

I bought mine from "Dubmeister" not the cheapest around but came highly recommend.

It really was! To be honest, the woman was being a tad bit arsey and I held my nerve and mentioned what the law on this actually was. She then continued to defend her incorrect information to which I just stopped there as I didn't want to escalate knowing my temper at times.

However, I got a nod of agreement from the male officer haha.

..Oh yes..pressed plates are 100% legal as long as they have the info as you mention AND they are reflective for Speed Cameras and ANPR to pick up.

I carry ''normal'' plates in the boot of the car anyway to hush my critics in case of MOT situations. Haha.

What info is that that have to be displayed on the plates?

So.....two degrees this morning and the heater on drivers side was cold. Must be the heater matrix needing bled I thought, removed the top hose, coolant coming out straight away. not that then.
A quick look on the internet shows drivers side motor quite often packs in. Set about removing it, the motor is fine but the arms broken...Grrrrrr. Replacement on it's way from Germany, silly prices on Uk Ebay.

Does anyone need a drivers side motor?

Almost directly under/behind the radio, passenger side motors can be easily accessed by removing the glovebox, the drivers side by removing the knee bolster below the steering wheel.

No, next to the battery you'll see the two coolant hoses, the top one has a bleed hole (you'll see a small white circle round it) clamp and move the spring clip towards the engine (mole grips are best) pull the hose forwards until the bleed hole can vent to atmosphere, start engine and rev it slightly (get someone to do that) so you can watch, once you have a steady stream of coolant push the hose back on and re do the spring clamp.
