Hi guys

I have been trying to find a good ZF transmission service center to do a flush of the gearbox. Spoke to couple of Audi specialists and they keep saying it's sealed and should not be changed. Having had BMWs with ZF in the past this sounds wrong as I haved serviced them couple of times.

Can you recommend any good ZF sepcialists in Surrey (near Camberley) who can do this please? I have found one in Newbury called millers garage who use an equipment to drain the system first and clean the transmission before filling with new fluid. Any one used them in the past or heard any reviews on them please?

Cheers

Hi.
I recently have taken my A6 for to change ATF . In the garage, the mechanic used a drainage machine. this is the best way for change the ATF because it changes completely the ATF. This garage only repairs and does services of automatic boxes.
I can't say you where do you can do it because I'm from Spain.

Thanks, the garage I mentioned seems to be using a similar equipment. I will give them a call and see if they have experience with the box. I am in the UK btw.

Cheers

Why would a gearbox flushing anyway ? Is that a service interval ? Problems ?

No issues as such, but more of preventive maintenance. I have done this other cars with zf box, so thought of doing the same with this one.

Audi tells that these gearboxes are without maintenance but ZF (manufacturer) tells that it is necessary each 60000-90000 km depending on its use. I think that there isnt any oil that will last forever.

A bit late with this reply but hope it helps:

I have an A6 C6 Allroad with TIP, recently had my gear box drained and fluid replaced - be aware that the gear box oil is just over £30 per litre!! I am led to believe that the gear boxes are 'quoted' as 'sealed for life', how ever in the small print it is advised to change the gear box oil at 90/100,000.

To that end I had this done by my trusty VAG mechanic, he services local VAG taxi cars so is very knowledgable with regards to work/maintenance for really high mileage VAG taxis.

Hi name is Hamid and is located near Pease Pottage, Crawley, West Sussex - about 2 mins from the M23, I take all my cars (VAG only) to him. 07903 201073
