Hmm out of the 2 the rings look better, the S3 logo doesn't look right.

Taste in aesthetics is very subjective thing. Everyone's taste differs, and this is why no-one can ever come to agreement on things like art or music, so there is no 'right' or 'wrong' answer to this question.

I imagine in a few years though the technology will exist to make independent and reasoned assessment of the arts and decide once and for all whether the Mona Lisa really is a work of unparalleled genius, or just a disappointingly small and grubby portrait of a random woman who looks like she might be suffering from a bit of wind. The same tech might also be employed to direct its considerable capacity for reasoned thought at the thorny issue of whether the Stones were better songwriters than the Beatles, or even decide whether the work of artists whos output falls into the genre known as 'grime' should be considered as music at all...

Fed with the pictures of extra little car badges stuck to mirrors though, I'm pretty sure it'll just laugh.

I am torn between trying to work out if they look cheap or not...Think I may leave it

On the back of the housing, I wonder if they'd be subject to deterioration due to stone chips, weather etc?

I'm sat in the drivers seat of an A3 now, not mine for a change.

I can't help but think those stickers will be too big, the bottom of the mirror glass isn't flat like in the photo.

I do genuinely think they will fill the mirror quite a bit and wouldn't look 100% because they would have to be on a twist.

I'm sure in a few years Audi will have some LCD/LED option for the mirrors, windows, etc where you can upload any pattern/image you want... :)

Yeah @Audi Bairn I see your point, I'm unsure how long the guy at work had his but they looked ok.

As above @AudiNutta I'd be looking at actually putting them on the mirror housing as opposed to the mirror itself

Sorry, I missed that one :haudrauf:

In that case, it would fit well :yum:

I think pretty much all aftermarket "mods" look a bit Halfords to me. Bloke at the end of my street has an "M" badge stuck on his one series beemer. People that know or care about this sort of thing know it's not a proper M car, so why bother?

That's probably because it is the M-sport. BMW introduced the M-Sport across the range of engines and it's not exclusive to top of the line now. Same as Audi's S-Line cars have some 'S' badges in places, and Merc have AMG-Line cars with AMG Badges albeit not a full AMG.

yeah im aware of "m" performance and such. this badge is on the boot where the model designation usually goes.

Wondering how close you were to me, I'd happily do you some of the rings for free, that way if you didn't like them you haven't lost anything.

I'm in Bedfordshire.

Might take you up on that offer! Very kind of you, thanks!

Would you mind posting them if I cover the cost of a stamp?

Can do, I haven't got etched but I've got white and silver if you fancy either of them?

I think silver would work well, subtle...

I will measure the mirror when I get a moment and let you know roughly what size I think would work?

No worries mate.

@Tom.H was thinking maybe 6cm long? What do you think? Should be subtle but noticeable at that length (with the appropriate/required height so the aspect ratio is correct)

Yeah can do that for you, do you want the Audi rings solid as they usually appear or the same way they are in the eBay listing with the gaps? Can do either.

Would be more like this as it would be a single colour

Yeah that in silver would be perfect please! I was just posting the one in post #25 for reference to the general shape

Side note... did you ever get the blue inlay/insert sorted for the front/back S3 badges you were working on? And would they fit a PFL? Will happily come to some arrangement on those if you have them :) Although I believe you said they were Ara Blue-ish and not Sepang?

Can do that for you no trouble :grinning:

That's actually a job for tomorrow weather permitting. The vinyl I bought is more of a match for Ara Blue, if I don't like it I'll change it back to red lol may be able to get one that's similar to Sepang although would need a Sepang car to check the swatch against.

Perfect let me know costs for the mirror bits :)

Thanks appreciate it!

Ahh OK, swing by your Audi dealer to find a sepang car :p haha think I'll leave the vinyl for the badges for now as I'd prefer Sepang match but Bedfordshire is a bit of a drive just to arrange that lol

I guess you work at a vinyl cutting place?

EDIT: Will they come with any sort of transfer paper attached for while I stick them to keep the shape?

Haha if I get chance I'll try and meet up with my brother, he's got a Sepang TTS. We work shifts so it's hard to get together when we're both off.

I used to, I actually drive trains now so a little bit different! Got a vinyl plotter at home though, do little bits now and again for friends/family/anyone lol

Nope, I did that as well. Once the template is done and stuck on the etching cream goes on for 15 mins.

Oh and sorry to answer your earlier question, the rings will have transfer paper on.

Aha nice, didn't realise the process of etching was simply a cream

Cool, thanks! :D

The other option is laser etching but you're looking at around £11,500 for a small laser cutter/engraver!
