Hello

Just taken delivery of a new S4 avant B9, it's the most powerful car i've owned so you can imagine i'm really excited by it and some more.

The exhaust note is brilliant, i have noticed though that when driving slowly in built up areas the coolant fan comes on quite quickly and it makes quite a loud but consisent noise. Sounds mechnically perfect, its just quite noticeable, i actually quite like it as its sounds like there is something proper in the bonnet but i was wondering if was normal....

Genuinely not heard this in mine. Not teaching you to suck eggs but, sure it's the fan? Not A/C in some way? I only say because I haven't heard this noise in mine.

Congrats though buddy! ****** great isn't it?

Yes its an absolute bad boy but also perfect car for our family

I'm pretty sure its not the AC, I turned that off and had the engine running in Neutral with the bonnet open and its coming from the front grill..

mmm... see what other responses I get, may take it in....

Do you hear it in the cabin? @Brasso ? Thoughts?

I would say to take it back, doesn't sound normal especially for this time of year with the ac off for the fans to be working so hard.

Depends upon how hard the car was being used, and if the turbo was getting warm then it would need cooling. Also, GregS4, you don't say if you've checked the coolant and oil levels?

Can't say as I've noticed in the cabin. Hear it sometime when getting out after a spirited drive but no different to my s3 in that regard.

I don't have the stereo on much now either so would have thought I'd have heard it. I'll have a listen out again tomorrow.

I havent checked the levels as i bought it this week, its a 2017 plate, but i will tomorrow

i have been driving quite strongly since i got it , but i think there's defiantly an issue, it almost comes on immediately

i spoke to Audi before, mentioned i going on a long 500 mile drive this weekend and they said to bring it in if it hasnt reset itself by the end of that

Car fixed by service centre, was a dodgy engine cover temp sensor.

No issues since.
