Can anyone recommend a good quality plastic adhesive I can use to build up some exsisting plastic components that have worn away then file down the adhesive to allow them fit, for that matter it doesn't have to be adhesive, just some substance I can use to achieve the above.

Yup, a decent 2 part epoxy sounds just the job.

Not something I use so any recommendations?
 
most epoxy resin are the same , 2 part mix or ready to use , when set can be drilled or shaped with numerous tools.
