Need some feedback on the options for the stereo, I have a double DIN with built in dash changer, no BOSE and no steering wheel control. Does have a rear speaker set and a sub in the side panel, and looking at the connections this may be switched but not sure

The CD changer has been removed from the unit and disconnected as it was stuffed so an waiting for a Ipod/android (3.5mm jack really) interface on the basis that if I disconnect the CD ribbon it should work through the remote CD changer connection (currently says no CD when button pressed).

I really would like to change the head unit so any suggestions, do I stay with OEM RNS or go for a pioneer ?kenwood something or other

Cheers

I went for the rnse from an a4 trimmed down
Looks factory fit the only thing with aftermarket hu is that they don't fill the gap and you have to have the black plastic covers/fillers to fill the void

hello guys,
not sure if this is posted in the right section or thread........
I have recently got my hands on a beautiful grey s3 and have been searching for andymac as I read he does a superb replacement sub for the bose system I have ..........
then I read he has passed away ... such a shame ....
can anybody possibly direct me via a link to a similar set up or the same set up ?
thanks very much

Looks tidy what did you use to trim the sides?

Mine was already cut down the guy I got it off had it retrofitted by a company in to his s3 from what I gather people use a dremmel or even a hacksaw blade. Tuffty has a how to in his thread aswell

third party sub will need an amp like the andy mac one does so that part of the installation still applies..

thanks for the reply, do you know if it is a plug and play set up as I have the bose setup ... I was reading about rca converter etc .... and if I remember somewhere along that thread its a simple plug from the original bose loom AND a fused 40a power cable from the battery
.
I have full bose I just ordered an adapter off eBay didn't run no power from the battery or use a rca converter

guys
my driver side bose speaker sounds terrible,
if I keep all the wiring and simply replace the actual speakers themselves tweeters and woofers will it still work with the bose original amp ?

Could be wrong but I don't think it will I'm sure bose runs at different ohms to usual set ups

Correct the ohm rating is not the usual 4ohm for the stock speakers.

If you're in the UK you should be able to source a replacement Bose one quite quickly there are that many 8L's wrecking
