My 2013 S3 went in for a service yesterday and I was told that the High Pressure Fuel Pump needed to be changed. I was not charged for it as it was a "product enhancement" (or similar).
I have had a good search on here but can't find any other references.
Anyone else had this?

That's a new one on me - mine had a service a few weeks back and no mention of this.

@jungle650 may be worth enquiring about when yours goes in.

My 2014 (now sold) Sportback had the same check last week when it was serviced. The guy I dealt with said they have been told to look for a particular number(s?) on the pump and if it is on the list then it should be replaced. I guess it is a faulty batch.

That makes sense - mines 2015 and no mention of it unless the service dept didn't check.

I had mine replaced 3 times on 2014 pre-fl S3! The first time the car broke down on the road I was ******, second time I was furious and third time I was laughing my *** off :) I drove first 4 months of ownership almost completely with a loaner car! Finally Audi got it together with new generation fuel pump. After all Audi did the after sales marketing better than any others making me feel fine although my car broke down so many times.

Now I have updated to facelift and everything has been good so far :)

I had issues on my 63 plate S3 - car was running rough and there was residue around the pump - also a smell of petrol occasionally. When I took it into Audi they said there was a problem with a O2 sensor. After me pushing the issue about residue around the fuel pump they put a new pump on - however, as the car was then pumping fuel properly again a fuel injector failed and needed replacing too. Sounds like this was an issue with the early 8V's.
