Hi

So two weeks ago my a4 started overheating. Had a coolant flush done and everything was fine till yesterday when it started overheating yesterday. When cold coolant level was one inch below minimum. toped it up and it seems to be fine now.

Poped the hood up and noticed ticking sound coming from the pipes on top of the airbox. I dont know if i`m paranoid now or is this normal and was there before.

Anyway here is a video of it, Can hear the ticking. Any thoughts?

Your overheating is a worry though mate because even with the coolant reservoir virtually empty the engine shouldn't overheat. The system is incredibly efficient. Sounds like you might have a blockage somewhere. Have you got evidence of the coolant pump being changed? What condition was the coolant you took out during the flush?

Water pump and thermostat was changed two years ago. Ive since made only 7k miles.
Two weeks ago when overheated friendly mechanic said there was an airlock somewhere. Hi did flush the coolant and filled it with g13. Was perfectly fine till yesterday. Overhated, Gauge was at 3/4 and moving up to max and down to 1/2 couple times. Fans came on. It was in the night so this morning popped the hood and coolant level was 1 inch under minimum.

Checked oil cap and no sign of coolant. And no sign of oil in coolant reservoir.

Does the car leave any spots on the drive when parked? It could be a leaking coolant flange, or J-plug near the thermostat.. both common failures

Hard to say. WAs raining all day yesterday and driveway is all wet. Apart from old oil leak stains there is nothing new.

Ive topped the coolant this morning than went for 30 mins drive and all look ok. Coolant level hasnt changed and temperature gauge was dead in half. Checked coolant temperature and it was at 97 deegres all the time.

That's the purge valve for the fuel tank ventilation, it's works in conjunction with the N118 solenoid under the inlet manifold.
