What have you done to your 8V today?

Well I went out and finally did it, I bought this today...nobody can say I rushed into it though lol...I've been looking at this one for almost 2 years!!!

It looks and feels amazing on, to say I'm happy is an understatement :)

That looks awesome mate very nice indeed and looks spot on size wise to your wrist. Is it 41,5mm ?

Edit - still not worn the Breitling it's a bit chunky looking would rather have the Omega.

Cheers mate, yes it's 41.5 mm ;) Got them to take 1.5 links out so that it fits snuggly where I want it, one link wasn't enough for my liking :)

Like with cars I was cheeky as anything asking for the discount, she looked at me shocked with my starting figure lmao :D But we got there in the end...after we agreed on the price I found a used one online for £50 more than what I paid for my new one lol. I can't understand why people don't ask "If you don't ask you don't get!!!" ;)

Looks good. I had the 10 spoke wheels on a loan S3 that was in my care for 5 months last year, and never really liked them at the time. Now though they're definitely growing on me...

You should debadge that number plate too, I've always hated the fact that dealers assume I'm willing to buy a mobile advertising hoarding from them. The platemount I got from Slough Audi was huge. While you're at it you could even reduce the acreage of yellow you're short reg number exposes, and fit something shorter for a tidier rear end.

Yep thats the next (well next after the next) on my list to do regarding the advertising plate holder but you have now added another 'to do' on my list for a shorter plate, nice one! Didnt even think about that :iagree:

Ive always loved the titaniums but didnt fancy paying new from audi then these refurbed came up cheap so had to take them. I like them best with the white A3's...I cant stand the standard twin 5spokes slines, just dont do it for me

Ah yes, given the choice of the stock S-line wheels and the 10 spokes, I agree entirely. On an S3 though I think the stock wheels are by far the best choice for the car.
Short plates look nice. I've got a couple of sets, I bought the first set from a well known eBay seller, but they turned out to be garbage. I bought the current set from four.dot, and they are extremely nicely made. Plus, they fit the front plate holder properly.

Today...
  • Installed my Thinkware F770 + Cellink B battery, all working! Was quite tough in some areas but persevered and got there in the end.
  • Replaced the windscreen washers with the A6 ones (see 'Windscreen washers' thread) - much much better in my opinion, a great mod

Would be quite cool if they could tell you which grey / silver background shade would match the grille :D

Were you not tempted to get ones that matched the bodywork / plastic grille colour?

I was, but I didn't go down that route for two very compelling reasons.

1/ I saw the carbon fibre print.
2/ I bought these about 6 months before a facelift S3 made it into a showroom so I didn't know what colour the grille was. I'd also ordered Daytona originally, and then changed to Navarra at the last minute.

On the rear I'd just go for a minimum size plate, and I'm sure it wouldn't be a hardship for Four Dot to match the grille colour now that facelift cars are out in the wild.

Fair enough, all makes sense :D

Yeah I got my rear plate on my S3 Saloon I think 4 inches shorter than normal (can legally be even less), kind of wish I went a bit smaller still as I quite like the 'wide' look it gives to the back of the car

Looks awesome mate. Really like it. I know the feeling when you get a good new watch, cant help looking at it, catching the jewels/details in a different light, wearing your jumper or shirt so it shows off the watch etc... Got a Tag Heuer F1 a year ago. It was my 1st really nice expensive watch albeit it being the cheapest that Tag do. Would really like to go for an Omega next. The Seamaster Planet Ocean deep black edition is tugging at my heart strings at the moment!

Looks great mate, the only problem with black is you see the scratches even more than you do on silver! I've noticed a couple of very small light scratches on this new one, but you have to look at the bezel at a certain angle and catch the light just right to see them....and with it about 6 inches from your nose! lol. When you look at it from a normal distance in a normal way = nothing :) It the same with car paint & scratches/swirls...ocd can go silly at times, we just need to accept they will be there sooner or later and we need to live with it, or it will drive us crazy :D

Yes i agree the S3 oem wheels are by far better for the S3 itself.

Is your plate a 5 digit? What size plate do you have?

Tried that fourdot but will have to go on my laptop as they aint set up for tablet plate designer so it says.

Works on iPad Pro, but haven't tried it on anything smaller.

Mine is a 5 digit plate, but four.dot will work out the exact size of refelective area that's legal, and print that.

I've got the classic plates, which are standard sized plates printed with a minimum size reflective area and a border area of your own selection or design. You can have a "zero" plate for the rear, which is cut to the smallest size that will physically fit around your letters.

I picked up my new s3 on Friday and painted the calipers red to match the factory spec and fitted some tpi wheel spacers! Stance looks so much more aggressive now! I'll get some pics up when it actually stops raining!

I have to agree with this. I think someone here (possibly @GSB) previously said something along the lines of if you spend so much on a premium bramd Audi, then what is ~£100 on on some number plates? But at the end of the day there's only so much I can justify lol, and I really don't think I could justify that on some number plates which are really just some bits of plastic and aren't really worth that (in my opinion at least) despite how nice they look

Oh, they're not cheap, especially the shaped ones, but mine were only £75. Compared to the amount I've spent on things like polishes, twinkly headlights, or even adding a tiny bit of fake leather to the inner door handles, £75 is ****** all...

New windshield fitted with OE glass well worth the extra wait. Also noticed extra dot fade graduation area to fill the gap between the interior mirror and the sun visors, not sure what model year change this was but not on my 2015 original screen :-

More shade on the back of your mirror? Just check your auto lights don't come on too soon as it may think it's darker than it is! There is a setting to adjust when they come on....somewhere! :)

Cheers :friends:

It's clear of the mirror luckily filling the gap above the mirror and between the sun visors when they're both down.

I took this 'before' pic so I could put the dash cam in exactly the same place. This has no shaded area like the new screen. Glad to get something 'positive' out of it just wondered if it's a MY16 or MY17 change :-

Does anyone know where to buy the S3 emblems (front and back) in black? Still looking to keep the Red but the chrome in black.

I got mine from raywell design but I believe that they no longer produce them @christoph7r might be worth asking them I suppose.

Are those 245/35 @Rob2k68 ?
How does it compare with what you had before (conti's?)?

235/35 mate.

Taking it steady just in case there's any mould release agent on them for 100 miles or so but first impressions are excellent much more compliant (comfy) over bumps which is good on the old fillings and it turns in a lot quicker too.

Yeah...you take it steady mate :) I'm gonna try 245/35/19 next to give myself a bit more wall/comfort as heard it was still good performance-wise...enjoy those bad boys

Finally! Can't wait to get rid of my facelift air vents :)

View attachment 116856
Thx to @DJAlix for the link and idea for this mod. I don't know if any 8V trims for US Mkt A3/S3 came with telescoping vents but my PFL S3 definitely didnt. And looking at those hideous FL vents, it doesn't seem like they do either.

Picked this set up from ebay.de and tested them out today. Just like Alix described them: think of them like cabin vents on commercial airlines. You can make air diffuse or focused depending on preference. I'm loving them and will enjoy them even more during summer.

Below are some pics of telescoping vents vs. non on the PFL model.
