Hi all, I recently purchased an A4 with no service history. The car is also a cat D . A fraction of the price for the car so these little surprises are expected!!

Anyway I've been trying to chase up the history on the car it originally came from Belfast (I'm in England) I've spoken with Belfast Audi and also registered to my Audi. But all that's logged is the delivery inspection.

I bought it from the person who got it from the insurance company and repaired the car. He also claims that he never had the service book (not unusual from insurance write offs)

Just wondered where you guys would start ? The car is on 47k and has only had 1 MOT as its 2013 so unable to verify down that path.

I did contemplate contacting the DVLA. To see if I could get hold of the original owner?

Audi will only have history if the car has been serviced within the dealer network or a independent garage with access to the digital service schedule.

DVLA won't give you previous owner information so you'll have to wait until you get the V5 to see the previous keepers details.

The previous owner will be the guy I bought it from tho and not the original owner.

I was looking into the V888 form?

Suppose you could try the V888, don't be disappointed though if they refuse.

Ah, I didn't realise the car was bought from a person, I read your initial post as you'd just bought the car from the salvage company.

At 47k it would've had 2 services if on longlife (most are) so basically 2 oil changes and a pollen filter. To save any hassle I'd be doing a full major service now, then you have peace of mind everything is up to date.

I would also get the car checked to see if its repaired properly , unless the guy who bought it from the insurance used a proper garage and didn't just do it himself .

I'm not too worried about the repair as it was side damage and all seems ok. And for the price I paid I'm not complaining. Just wonder d about the history
