Jeeeez....... the base car at current exchange rate it's around £46,660 for UK buyers. Add on the new car tax at £1,200 and you are looking at £47,860 before adding any options!!! (Better hope that Audi had included some items as standard or some very generous dealer discounts/PCP rates - but I doubt it.)
If I add my current spec of my car the price would be well over £56K ........even more if you choose the saloon. At that price I don't think I will be looking at a new one just yet!

Putting the price to one side.........I think the new Sportback would look great with the black pack, and I see the infamous ceramics have appeared once again. Will they actually be offered as an option this time? (for those of you with very deep pockets )

I wouldn't go by the exchange rate, people done that the last time round and the car came in a fair bit cheaper, I would guess around £41k for SB

Even if the price is less than the direct euro conversion there is no way it will be just £1k dearer than the pre-facelift.
Not a hope in hell.

My guess is £42,995 for a base car.

What was the Euro price for the original 8v RS3? Might give a better indication of the price rise.

I've just realised that none of the FL saloons have roof rails. Is this just coincidence or is it not an option on the saloon? They're an essential on the SB IMO, they add great lines. I'm not sure as that's what I don't like about the look of the FL saloon.

I reckon roof rails would look naff on a saloon car.

Sportback looks meaner & more aggressive imo.

What's good is that hopefully they will offer the sportback wheels on the saloon, hate the saloon wheels

Great that we all have different tastes.
I'd have neither set of wheels, would be getting a set of V Spokes or similar which will hopefully be an option for future buyers, as both sets of standard wheels are awful.

It's amazing what a good set of wheels (and right colour choice) can do to the look of a car.
The Sportback, in my opinion, is not a good looking RS car.
However, the one with V Spokes on here (thinks it's a purple colour), looks almost great.

Saloon S3 has always been the top of the 8v looks pile for me, no contest.
In RS3 guise with the right wheels would top that though.

So £450 a year for 5 years for an RS3.. We have to get rid of this Tory Government PDQ.

Here in Italy it's about 1900£ a year for the firsts 5 years and than the 60%... No comments.

I would have expected to see all the doubters that the FL was coming eating humble pie now that it's officially announced.

But no.....brushing over the fact they were wrong

Is black optic pack the equivalent of black pack on the s3? gloss black grill, trims and mirrors

I think the SB RS3 looks miles better than the saloon personally

Craaaaiig? Honestly?! Come on...
I bet you would give your left arm for it mate - if you got the chance to trade up from that hokey Renault RS!
I personally think beauty is in the eye of the beholder. And I think the SB is a beauty of a machine...

I think photos in general never do many cars justice. I'm sure the FL SB in Panther Black will, black pack will look nice and aggressive.

Is that a bit like all the humble pie consumed by the people who said the facelift would arrive early 2016? Humble pie all round eh.

Well TX I for one said no such thing so I pass the pie to you..go on have some

It was also pushed much harder that there would only be the saloon and anyone who dared mention FL SB was set upon.

Now it's switched to 'the pre Fl' is nicer chat. It never ends

I think you'll find that it was all the BS that was "set upon" nothing more. No one said there wouldn't be a SB, just that we hadn't seen one testing etc so there MIGHT not be one. I'm happy to eat humble pie along with everyone else, let's make it a banquet!

It's still gonna be a long wait for anyone ordering if first deliveries are Dec 17.

It that were the case I would have to hold out for the new March 18 registration.

By then I will have had mine 2 years so will be starting to plan my next car !!!!!

The gap between the pre-fl and fl is staggering it really is.

Exactly the same position as you mate. T be honest, prob worth waiting for the Mk3 which will be a year or so after that. This facelift is merely an end of current shape throw of the dice. By the time people have received theirs, new A3 chassis will be banded about. Personally I wouldn't want to be forking out the top dollar for a facelift version when a new shape is around the corner.

As @Radman says @Snake Pliskin us current owners will no doubt wait for the new model as it will be far superior to the facelift incl the nasty front end which will immediately be out of date :tearsofjoy:

I agree for those who have the Pre FL there is no point considering the FL as the next gen will be on its way soon enough.

Never ending cycle, the best thing to do is be happy with you currently own and if your in the market for whatever is next then great!

Now that the new tax rules are upon us I'm telling myself that my soon to be delievred TTS is the last one for me and I'll keep it long term this time :expressionless:

Yeah I guess so .... I must say when I look at the current S4 & S5 interiors they are incredible & no doubt the next gen 3 will reflect those to a degree.

Getting a face lift RS3 in 1.5 years probably doesn't make a lot of sense - in terms of car life & more so when we have cars which are 95% of the face lift.

If ever there was a car to hold onto longer the RS3 could be it and Terry the TTS is a stunner too & bang up to date in tech & looks inside & out.

Looking forward to good weather again, when I can get the windows down and hear that 5 pot & exhaust @ 3,500 rpm oh yeah :)

That's why I decided it was worth going for it over a used RS3 at this point. Not going to lie it would be nice to have that 5 cyl soundtrack but 20% off list made it a no brainer

I have went for s tronic mate, after the M135i and M235i both having the great auto box I can't see me going back.

Exact spec just incase you are interested :yum:

Mythos Black
Tech pack
Comfort pack
Privacy glass
Folding/dimming/kerbside mirrors
Leather/alcantara super sports

Didn't feel the need for anything else so quite happy with that lot. The wait is a killer though.

I saw a Mythos s line in the showroom at Stirling Audi and it was a nice place to sit so I'm hopeful I'll be content with this as I've ordered without a test as none were about when it came to placing the order

Great spec & tbh the TTS comes fully loaded - one of the few audis that does imo so no need for loads of extras.

I've driven a couple of the mark 3 TTS and had a mark 2 TTS myself from 2011-13.

It's a great package - loads of power and handling is superb. I'd have one but wife has a s line TT atm so too similar.

Will look stunning in mythos black - my TTS was black too but panther. The dash is ace in the TT you will enjoy that immensely.
