Went out to the barbers which is about 20mins drive away, got there fine then driving back home on the motorway I decided to put the foot down a bit then the engine cooling system fault light came up, I was 5 minutes from the house so just carried on home. What's best to do, check the level when the engine has completely cooled down or phone Audi and get it booked in?
My cars a 2015 S3 and have done under 12k miles

Its a clear expansion tank so i would check asap without opening the screw lid. Pop the bonnet and have a quick look. You should be able to tell if you have coolant in there as it will be pink or blue. On mine, it goes higher when warm. But its always sat at just under max when cold and just over when warm. If its low now then i would expect it to be lower when cold, at which point you need to be careful it doesn't run dry.

There is a fault with the A3 water pump i think.... cant remember exactly but use the search bar.

Yeah I'd give it a good hour or so before removing the cap. Where does the fluid level appear to be now I take you must be well below min to get a light on the dash ?

Hopefully it just need filling up, you can use this stuff http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/p/c...t=awin+traffic&utm_campaign=Editorial+Content

Add it to the basket and use the code weekend30 for 30% off and you get it for £2.09 ;)

PS: I did ask the Audi service guy if that's OK to use and he said yes.

I checked as soon as I stopped and it was just on the minimum line so maybe there is another problem. I will check it later tonight when completely cooled down and see what it's like if it's not below minimum I will call Audi.

@S32B
Thanks mate il buy that now even if I don't need it, it will be good to have.

Not sure why it would just need "topping up"? It's a closed system isn't it? Either it hasn't been filled correctly which as it has 12k miles I find unlikely (unless it's been tinkered with recently) or it has some kind of problem?

Confused on why you would call Audi if it's not below minimum? Surely other way around?! I would be straight on the phone to them in the morning, your still in warranty.

Here is a thread I mentioned in the 2nd post in case you missed my reply

@S32B
Is it safe to add in that engine coolant if it's a different colour?
