What have you done to your A4 b6 today?

I am actually going to leave it this black, my plan if all comes to fruition is to black out the door blades, door mirrors, all grills including chrome to this colour and later the roof I will wrap with a panoramic vinyl. I also going to wrap my interior trim with a carbon wrap. Also will be tinting my windows at a later stage. I am doing lowering springs ( Eibach Pro kit) in May and doing wheels in December.

As I am a lazy ****** hope all comes to fruition. Like I said need to so the lady some love, she deserves it!

Ah I see! In that case good plan. If you look at my car (build thread) you will see ive done this. Everything on my car which was silver is now black!

Grills, Wheels, Chrome window sills, badges..the lot!

I just went and looked at your thread and have to say that I am now totally sold on the colour make-up. There was a little hesitation in the gloss black but it works. Have to say your car looks epic and people can say what they want the b6 chassis is timeless.

Thanks for the kind words! I just love de-chroming things. Its all about co-oridinating. Nothing to fancy. Some of us call it OEM+ meaning basically like it came from the factory but with a little twist.

Oh yes, the B6 is timeless!

Fitted my Lamin-X 'Gunsmoke' fog light tints today. They're not quite right (lumps in the LHS one) so I'll have to refit it at some point. When I matte black the chrome trim and fit the 'chromed' indicator bulbs and pressed plates/surrounds, it will all make sense!

That's beautiful, jonni. Where did you get your plasti-dip from? And would it be a complete act of madness to try it in this weather? What's the drying time like? Thanks :)

Got mine from Plasti dip, wouldn't fancy spraying any kind of paint in this weather unless you have a warm area indoors.
As for drying time, if I remember correctly it takes about 15 minutes a coat, using light coats. if you can unclip the chrome work form your grills it makes it a lot easier to do & it'll look a lot better.

So Saturday my car showed me I needed coolant.
But because I had the car parked with 2 wheels on the sidewalk and when I drove off the error cleared I didn't bother that much..
But that thing kept swirling in my head..
To give me some piece of mind I just went and checked anyway..
To my surprise it was almost empty.
It rained last night. But it has been dry and I never seen any sign of leaks..
Anyway..
I went and got myself some g13 coolant and she was really asking for it.. In fact, 1.5L of the stuff..
Good thing i caught it just in time before I had some real problems..

Check the coolant flange on the back of the cylinder head, it can leak from there onto the gearbox then it evaporates leaving little trace of it, see my thread re replacement coolant flange.

I saw your post..
Loved the idea..
But I'm guessing the location is on a 1.8T. Or do you have a 1.9 Tdi?

I'm not sure if they share the same part (1.8t+1.9tdi) but the placement on the vehicle will be the same, It's the part that the coolant sensor sits in. Here's a replacement guide albeit for Passat 1.8t http://www.passatworld.com/forums/b5-information-base/312873-diy-beginner’s-guide-b5-b5-5-1-8t-coolant-flange-replacement.html

Exhaust has been finished

Oh lovely!!! Please tell us more? Do you have sound clips?

Basically im going to go for the opposite of you i think. Decat, 2.5inch straight through with slimline back box.

Looks like you have, cat back, middle slim resonator but with no back box.

Custom or off the shelf?

Dan.

Hi mate, when the cars clean I'll get some sound clips up haha
It's not much louder than standard exhaust in normal driving conditions, but it got a nice deep tone when on boost. It's a custom turbo back mate with the slim resonator and decat that's it

Starting to get a bit ocd about some little things on my B6..
So ordered the battery cover and installed it today..

Wanna do a make over on the bay..
But don't know where or when to start ..

You are not alone! (Queue Michael Jackson song) I too have broken battery cover and shoulod be ordering a new one soon.

If you ever paint your engine cover white to match the car, do the same with the battery cover!

I've taken the cover off a long time ago..
And white under the bonnet sound like a NO NO to me..
I was thinking sorting it and have some bits in blue..
Probably that would make it stand out..

Today was new glow plugs day..
Had everything lined up and ready to go.. I started with the plug behind the fuel filter, which BTW, was a pain in the back side..
Took the fuel filter off no problem. Unscrew it's bracket and when I tried to get it out it wouldn't..
So I moved it to the side to give me some room to work..
With this done I start the job in hand and swapped all 4 plugs..
after all 4 plugs swapped was putting everything back together I touched the fuel filter bracket and it simply fell of its place..
I wanted to kick and scream everything but didn't..
Afterall the job was already done..

Here the pics..

We're they easy to unscrew? I'm expecting mine to be welded into the engine. What made you change them?

Warm engine works like a treat..
I was running errands and let the engine cool off a bit because it gets too warm and then started unscrewing..
But go easy on them anyway because they might break. Same deal with screwing them back.. Nice and steady until they're tight..

I changed them because I was having rough starts..
Car would judder before it started..
Had to turn on the ignition for about 5seconds and then start the car..
Now don't even need to bother about that..
First time starts every time..

Today I have been busy sorting my rear wiper which was upside down!
Had a look to see if the plenum thing was full of water, and it was. I didn't want to remove the battery and couldn't reall pull the grommets out so I just pulled the one under the brake cylinder thing until all the water drained out and il sort it properly later. I also removed some awful stickers and replaced the front wipers. So it's a productive first week of ownership for me! Just the airbag light to sort and the oil drip from the back of the engine now!

Delivered, yet to be fitted, though:

Changed the fuel filter.
Car has been with me for just over 2 years and I don't think the previous owner had changed it.. Just to have piece of mind..

The new filter came with the 2 o rings to put on the hose which has the clip.
Didn't want to use the fuel in the filter.. So disposed of it.
Can see on top of the filter that it is dirty.. So it was time to change..

Today was finally the day I replaced my faulty CCM, and had the B7 style key fob to be coded and after 25m work I went from 2 feet range to 30 feet..
I guess the problem was I'm my old remote.. Not that I care now because not only I have the B7 key now I have loads of range..
Very pleased..
