I know this has come up in discussion a good few time, and I've always been under the impression Dolphin Grey (LY7K) was reserved specifically for the S3, and Mineral Grey (LX7Z) was for the A3...
Now, have a look at these two vehicle data pages - One from my first A3, a 2001 model showing LX7Z (Mineral Grey). And one from my most recent A3, a 2000 model showing LY7K, Dolphin Grey!
Now here's the confusing bit, I'm 99% sure the wheel well sticker showed a discrepancy to this stating LX7Z, Mineral Grey... However I can't prove this as the car has now been scrapped, but I'm certain this is something I've observed in the past.
My problem is I'm selling a few of the panels etc and want to make sure I quote the right paint code... Do you think it would be safe to go off the boot sticker which [I think] stated Mineral Grey, also seeing as I'm fairly certain the A3 was never available in Dolphin Grey.
Also, can anyone see any logical reason why there would be a discrepancy between the book and the wheel well sticker?
An odd one I know, would be interested to hear your thoughts!
