Hi all......

just hoping someone can help with some advice regarding the air susp. I have found the last few days, after the car has been parked overnight or a good few hours, the front right corner of the car has dropped quite low compared to the rest of the corners. I live on a very steep hill!

Now, i'm thinking its possibly an issue with the suspension on that corner but in terms of minimising damage till it gets looked at, whats the best way to use the car as this is what tends to happen in the morning:

1- start car and susp light flashes a while and then stays on constant
2 - do not feel the front corner lift at all
3 - restart car and still the same
4 - drove car a few hundred yards and turned car off
5 - restart car and then light is still flashing
6 - restart car and light is out and suspension is level again!

i do hear what i think is the pump noise coming from the back of the car......

Before all this drama over last few days, i used to get the susp light flash and if i restarted the car, the light used to go straight out. I have been advised by previous owner that both front suspension 'bags' has been replaced a few years ago...hes had the car from new and i dont have any reason to doubt that but i guess they can still go wrong......

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Many Thanks

Check the bag on the side that drops for leaks with soapy water- it should be obvious if it leaks however I had a valve block doing the same issue on a friends Allroad . Do not leave it for too long as the compressor wears out the Piston seal and liner as it's trying to compensate for the leak !

I have a spare set of front shocks and bags I will sell cheap if you need one.

Thanks for the response, i think i need both now as its sat on both sides and doesnt move up at all. Can you PM me your number? Cheers

VCDS will tell you what shock is leaking air and you can replace that bag. I have been replacing my bags with used OEM bags and finally switched to the ebay equivalent replacement with a 10 year warranty. They look and feel like OEM and are only ~140 each. I have been running mine in the front now for about 8 months no problems...

Thanks for the advice :) Well, after a new compressor was fitted the suspension is staying up but i was told both front air bags have minute holes in them which is one reason they were going down at times and other times, stayed up!!
My nephew whos had his eye on my car ever since i got it now owns it! i have now got an A4 2.5 180 quattro :)

Thanks again

When you ready to play with your Quattro let me know !

I wish you looked in the classifieds for the one I am selling...has many mods done ! Well, good luck with your purchase !

Hadn't checked in the Classified section but i have now!! Looks nice :)

Good luck with the sale.....mine currently has like a misfire intermittently but when its there its like a rattle from the engine. I drove it 200 miles home and it was sweet then a few days later, on idle it started to vibrate (unsteady idle) few hours later, started car and sound gone?? It has BDH engine, are they prone to cam failure?
I would like to get the car running as it should before playing but i will be contacting you for sure!.....thanks again :)
