I'm sure this has been covered before, but made the mistake of getting an insurance policy for my S3 with AdrianFlux after phoning for a quote when my renewal came up. Got a decent quote and agreed with the sales person to go for it under the condition that I could cancel the policy and get my money back if I found a better quote in the next 14 days.

Well I did with Sky Insurance, who where my insurer. Went to speak to AdrianFlux, who said that sure, you can cancel, but we're keeping our commission so here is your money back, minus 160 quid! I was so tempted to cancel out of spite, but then they'd be getting a significant chunk of my money for doing absolutely nothing, so had to keep my AF policy.

I know, Ts and Cs and all that, but that is not what I was led to believe during the sales call. Had the sales person said that you can cancel later, but we'd be keeping 160 quid based on the price, I'd taken the quote and phoned back later if I wanted to go for it. It's the same as saying that you can cancel if you have 160 quid to throw away.

I doubt that my relationship with AF will last when this policy comes up for renewal... This is not how your first customer service experience should go. Can't help but feel very bitter about the whole thing.

Moral of the story is: get quotes from insurers and never fall for the sales pitch until you have quotes from the insurers you wanted to speak to before paying.

I'm sure they'll reply to you on here but you should have had the cancellation calculation method explained to you, especially if you highlighted that you might cancel. You're saying that's not the case?

That's exactly it - I did indicate that I still plan on calling my insurer, but I wasn't told what I'd end up paying if I did cancel.

Like I said, I'm sure this is explained in the T&Cs and is probably a standard practice, but I'm not an insurance expert and feel that this should have been made clear during the sales call.

In fairness, the AF quote was very competitive, but hate it when you have a sour taste left after the experience - can't help but feel cheated out of making a choice.

Hi Lehskin,

First of all thank you for taking a policy out with us however I am really sorry to hear you've experienced issues with us, especially so soon after taking the policy out.

All calls are recorded so I can easily arrange for this to be thoroughly investigated. We do have the facility to offer a 14 day money back guarantee if you are able to find a like for like quote elsewhere at a more competitive price - So I can happily have your telephone call listened to and get to the bottom of this.

Would you mind sending me a PM with your details so I can get the ball rolling? I'm keen to resolve this for you.

Kind regards,
Dan.

Thanks for getting involved Dan.

Customer services have been in touch and we've come to a mutual agreement - no hard feelings with AdrianFlux - customer services dealt with it pretty efficiently.

Moral of the story is - always get quotes first from all the insurers you wanted to speak to and don't pay any money until you've made your decision first.
