Taking delivery of my facelift A3 on Tuesday just wondering am I able to draw the letter on the top of the mmi dial or is that part of the tech pack upgrade? Am I being dumb?

Do you mean as in having the pad you can write on which then transfers it to the MMI? As far as I know the S3 doesn't have it.

Yeah that's what I mean, I didn't think it would be standard on the s-line. I couldn't find much info on it when researching :/

Standard MMI does not have this. MMI Touch is part of the Techpack upgrade on both PFL and FL cars.

Will I have that then @DJAlix? I've specc'd tech pack advanced, the RS6 I had in Germany had it, worked quite well actually at translating my finger writing!

Well if you spec'd techpack advanced then yes :)

:flushed: Only specc'd it for virtual cockpit, didn't actually read anything else that it included lol

Useless and time consuming thing this is,you can dial in a command quicker

Yeah, I use it all the time. It's very useful. Allows you to input things without having to stare at the screen to make sure you have the right letter highlighted.

I can understand why it would be useful for most people on LHD cars, but given I'm right handed, 99% of the time I try to use MMI Touch, I write like an infant gibbon with a novelty sized crayola.

I guess RHD MMI Touch is a great invention for those odd lefties!

So you just focus on the centre console rather than the screen
...

That's what my wife's job is when she's in the car. She is in charge of navigation and radio (don't have a dog etc etc ....) so the MMI Touch is on the correct side for her

Contrary to what jassy says I do think it saves time and I bet in a race I could enter an address quicker than using the dial.

Because I'm more than the age of 4, I'm capable of using my hands without looking at them :p

I'm not left-handed either but find the recognition good enough to pick up my scrawls
