Hello everyone. I traditionally post over on the audizine forums however am seeking some extra knowledge from over seas! Seems like if I am not posting up something about stance or big rims I dont get a lot of replies on the US forums.

I own a 2002 audi allroad with OEM Borg Warner K04s, Methanol Injection, TDI transmission and a ton of extras. WHP is around 400...

Reciently I retrofitted my interior with RNSE electronics to include 8P1 oem bluetooth and MMI, heated and MFSW, etc. I have everything working but will have a few questions down the road for yall retrofit experts.

Welcome to the A6 section. Hope you enjoy :)'

Never mind questions for us, I think I might have a few questions for you . Welcome, the more the merrier.

I haven't warmed to the allroads but post some picks up see if you can persuade me. I love the bi turbo engines but choose for other reasons to get a 1.8t instead. The power band on your engine is phenomenal. Sounds like a good load of work. I'm curious about the tdi gear bag and how it's geared/drives. Will those abbreviations come up if I google them. I have parrot hands free that works with the original radio but don't know what MMI is only what MMA is lol. Any way welcome and share the 40 BHP love

Cool thanks for the kudos. Yea im no expert what so ever on tdi engines but do my way around a petrol engine. I do however know I have the same block in my 2.7t as the 2.5tdi so we have something in common. Great block btw, bulletproof...

Yea I had a TDI trans imported from germany from a standard a6 c5 "4b" tdi car. The trans was rebuilt with the undated syncros. I swapped out my rear diff with a 4.11 to make everything in alignment. I am able to cruise on the freeway at 120kmh and get exactly 20mpg, but if I do 100 kmh I can achieve 26-27 MPG which I feel is pretty good for an old heavy and modified awd wagon

200kg if I'm not mistaken. If your quoting native us gallons then imperical uk gallons would be 24 mpg @ 100kph and 32mpg at 120kph. I thought America used miles as a unit of distance and speed for the road ways. That's very impressive fuel economy. What engine speed do you get then at, can we do mph , say 70mph in 4th, 5th and 6th? Don't ask for much sure I don't ?

Or it might be easier to see what the speed is per 1000 rpm, i.e. 20mph per 1000 rpm for 4th, 25 for 5th and 30th for 6th at a guess. Looking forward to some pics and spec etc.

Yea sorry for using the wrong conversion. I am trying to make the units easy to read for everyone here. We all know that the US system of measurement is a little skewed. I am an engineer so think in metric anyways haha.

My average US MPG is 16 so Imperial average MPG is ~19
100 kmh is ~32MPG
120khm is ~24MPG

So now that I got that figured out... The only pic I have is my cruising speed at 120 kmh @ 2,400RPM. I recall this same speed with my old tiptronic 5-speed 5hp19 running at 3100 at the same speed before the trans swap.
The gearing should be identical to your tdi gearing there so I would expect the RPM to be identical too right?

No need to apologise. I just thought you might have been using your native units. I don't have a tdi a6. I've got a petrol seat Ibiza 99 1.4 mpi which is getting put out of its misery come April as it will need to much for mot. I have a 99 seat Cordoba vario 1.9 tdi which I have a love hate relationship with because bits keep falling off her eating up valuable tuning money and time. Also suspension components cost a fortune for her which is my favourite part of the car. If it doesn't handle then it's no good. I have a 01 awt 1.8 turbo petrol fwd a6 which is a donor car for panels, electrics and engine, also has lpg. Finally my pride and joy is a 00 apu 1.8 turbo petrol Quattro silver saloon. Both a6 cars are silver saloons. The plan is to strip the donor car and do a stroker engine build. Put the food panels on the Quattro and scrap the fwd a6. Scrap the Ibiza. I've and engine build on the go for the Cordoba so if she behaves herself she might stay and if she doesn't I'll build the engine and drop it into a Quattro, probably a6 as I really like them . I'd love to drop a six speed into the Quattro as it's only five speed so that's why I found your thread really interesting. The gearboxes are all 01E type. Even the box off the fwd a6 is a 01E type. That's cracking fuel economy, amazing stuff. Thanks for sharing the info. My gearing btw is 24mph per 1000rpm in 5th/top. Some of them can even be 22mph per 1000 rpm so the longer legs would be a vast improvement.

What do you engineer at? I'm a electro/mechanical engineer myself. Couple of typos in that last post which it won't let me correct for some reason. 31.5 or so mph per 1000 rpm is a bit long I think for me but with your mega torque and mile wide power band it probably suits quite well. If you had 600 bhp you should be able to knock 2 ton out as in 200 mph. What have you had her cracked open at so far? On your private road of course . Did you have to modify the tunnel or foot well to convert to manual? The rs6 or s6 is a bit of a nightmare to convert to manual as the tunnel or foot well needs extensive rework to convert to manual. You need to get a build thread going. Satisfy our curiousity lol.

I googled your acronyms and that's cool having the sat nav and I don't even know what else comes with the MMI but I re read your first post and can't believe I missed the fact that you have 400 bhp wheel power on OEM k04 turbos. That's 533bhp crank on standard rs4 turbos? Get the build thread going.

I am an electrical engineer for a power distribution company here in Reno, NV. We make server room power strips for server rooms like Google, Apple, faceboook, etc.

Not really it is closer to 450-480 CHP with methanol injection because of the increased timing. That is at 22-24 PSI (1.5 Bar) on the OEM Borg Warner K04s.

The fastest I have had it up to is 250kmh. There was still plenty of power left but it was on a highway. With this TDi transmission 4th gear takes me to 233kmh.

No the manual swap from tiptronic to manual is very easy. Installing the new clutch pedals is most difficult. Then you need to unbolt the master cylinder and brake booster to install the new clutch line but it is about 4 days of work.

Yea "MMI" in my signature just stands for the AV adapter that installs behind the RNSE into the 32 pin plug.

I thought our transmission losses were 25% but standard remap for an Rs4 is 425bhp so with the WMI and a push makes 480bhp about right. That's still top dollar. I can't say I've seen all the turbo swaps on bi turbos here from k03 to k04 but of the few I have seen they seem to have been knocking around the 360/380bhp mark.

I'm looking to source a 2.8v6 gearbox for my Quattro as it's got 24.2mph per 1000 rm in 5th/top vrs my 22.79mph. This makes the difference of doing 157 mph 251kph instead of 148 mph237kph in top at 6500 rpm. 7500 rpm nets 182mph/291kph instead of 171mph/273kph.

That's good to know about the gearbox swap as the auto box a6 biturbo often have the nicer interior and purchase prices are cheaper as well. Maybe do a biturbo build in the future.

That sounds like an interesting job. I modify vehicles and support equipment for the air transport industry in order to keep all those bargain hunting holiday makers happy lol. And you keep the forums running in a way lol. Thank you.

I know auto/tiptronic losses are 25% or greater where as the manual I believe is closer to 20%. Yea with the meth I am able to crank the timing up 5-6 degrees
