yourAudi - Track New Car Order

Just waiting for transport now. Looking forward to picking up in the small window I have at home next week.

Mine is following an identical trajectory, it's been sat at status 40 since around boxing day and is just awaiting transport to the dealers, probably from Sheerness. I guess nothing has moved since Christmas Eve, and I expect there is now a bit of a back log for transport. Might make the dealers this week, and they told me they would need three working days to prep, so I don't think there's much chance of it being ready this weekend, since it's a four day week this week. I'm thinking the latter half of next week is likely now (11th-14th)?

If they start to move them again tomorrow, the status probably won't update until the night after it moves, so may see an update latter half of this week, in which case you might then hit your window! Fingers crossed...

So after going straight from Preparation to QC on New Year's Day then flipping back to Preperation 24hrs later, it has now gone back to QC and I've just got an email from Audi to say it's on the way!

I don't know what to believe!

Lucky you. Mine's still stuck at Prep after having gone back there from QC (the new year glitch!)

Hi guys, sorry to interrupt, I wanted to ask if anyone experienced problems with the tracking website, everytime I try to check the status of my car "
The details provided don't match our records. Please contact your local Audi Centre for assistance."
I already contacted the dealer twice explaining the problem and first time he send me another code stating that the one I've got on my papers was wrong, the second time said might be the website.
Any ideas?

If you just ordered, it takes about a week before the tracking can find the order. Until then you get exactly that message!

I ordered on 22/12 so should be available... but nothing. The only thing I got it's a screenshot from his pc stating that the car has been shipped in uk and it's in Grimsby but nothing else.
Expected delivery day on the papers states 29/12.

Mine now sayings it's in Transit and on its way to the UK. Dealer called a couple of days ago to say it had shipped but I wasn't sure as it wasn't even supposed to start building until next week!

Think I'm going to grit my teeth and wait until 1st March as I originally told the dealer. 6 weeks 5 days to go

Just out of interest, when did you order?

12th November was when I made the order. Had first email from Audi with order number and estimated build date on the 18th.

Yours has progressed really quickly then. I placed my order on the 16th Nov with a built date of 16th Jan and after being in Prep since 3rd Dec it's just moved to Panel Shop this morning.

Unlike you, I was hoping to receive my car asap as I'm returning my current company car on the 20th Jan. But having been stuck in Prep for ages, it's now looking that it won't arrive until mid-Feb at which point I might as well wait till 1st March.. :(

Woohoo, my order now showing on the tracker, less than a week to appear (just).
Checked last night and it wasn't showing, so added this morning.

Tracker now saying car is in the UK. Not looking forward to telling the dealer through gritted teeth that I'm going to wait until 1st March, I'm not known for my patience!

Six weeks to go...

Why wait when the car is going to sit in some storage area for that long getting filthy, and god know what else, for the sake of a couple hundred quid, if that? You could be out enjoying it..

Whack a private plate on it, avoid the increased car tax rules and have fun whilst everyone else rushes to get a "new car" when the Reg changes

Don't think the new car tax bands kick in until April so that should be fine.

Is tempting but I won't really have chance to use it properly apart from pootling to and from work. 1st March will be better!

Stick to your guns, March the 1st is the best time to pick it up!

Mine came so early I decided not to wait, but the weather is foul, and I've nowhere to drive, and I know come March I'll wish I had waited for the 17 plate.

By the time you could get it, it'll be less than 5 weeks...

Status 21 - panel shop for my S4 Avant today. After seeing the 'bug' on 1st Jan which showed Status 21 on 21/1 etc I was half expecting those dates to just happen then - as if they are just pre-programmed and not actually linked to any activity, but there must be some other trigger as the date has come forward 2 days.

Ok I need to stop checking the order tracker! I'm on it 4 or 5 times a day, it's like watching paint dry waiting for a status change.
Only ordered 2 weeks ago so I guess there's a long way to go yet.

This is my first exposure to the Audi ordering system, but from what I have picked up, statuses 21 to 25 must be driven by some back-office system and only update at midnight - so little point checking more frequently. I presume that the later stages are based around a scan of a bar code on the car so can update at any point.

I don't know what triggers a move from 10 to 20. Mine went to 20 on 8th Dec, despite a build date of 23rd Jan

This is my 5th order with Audi but first time the tracker has existed. Usually just pester the dealers for screen shots of there system when the status changes. I'm starting to think I much preferred not having the ability to check.

Its much better than other systems, like ford who in 2011 didn't know my car was at the dealership despite us having taken photos of it. Then with Seat recently, one saleperson told me we could track it when that didn't exist for buyers. Again we were only told the car was at the dealership after asking where it was. I like the system Audi has and the excitement of seeing the car move forward from one status to another, especially when it jumps a few..

March 1st will probably be a very busy day for the dealers, go in February and get a chilled out, personal service :)

Mine left the factory 5 days ago as long as it's in one piece on 2nd March when I collect ...oh the wait!

Ordered a new Sline 2.0 TFSI Fwd on Wednesday 18th Jan. The dealer sent the paperwork and order number through on the Friday with a build week 6th Feb and delivery in week 10, 6th March. I was surprised, to say the least, with how quick it's coming!
It went to preparation on 26th Jan and the tracker updated to bodyshop this morning. The dealer said that they'd managed to get a cancelled build slot and were able to amend it to my spec.
So fingers crossed, the tracker's "being honest", and it'll be here when they said.

Status 30 for me yesterday.

@vinvinian - keep the thread posted -looks like your car is about a week ahead of mine :)

@malph - that is indeed very quick!

Having read this thread again in entirety on a train yesterday, my personal view is that the status 21 to 24 items are purely for PR and are at best roughly right. For every car to see panel shop on one day, paint shop the next, assembly the next and QC two days later - well, I'd be surprised.

This is borne out by some cars getting a status 30 (left factory) date before some of 21 to 24, and others apparently spending a long time in QC. Frankly if there were such a proportion of cars spending time in some mythical QC area as the status implies, they would have a major problem. I don't know, but I expect QC is done periodically on the production line and then an overall check on the prod line at the end. This is just my view- others will undoubtedly have more insight.

Having read the extremely variable amounts of time cars have spent before getting on a ship, I had a look at Emden port on Google Earth. I have no idea how many tens of thousands of cars there are there in the photos, but it is easier to understand why there might be some delays!

So I'm just watching the video that was sent to me this morning, and the car looks dirtier than I'd expect from being taken off the transporter. Mud in the wheel arches, looks like road salt up the door. I know they've had it a week already. Am I being paranoid?

What kind of mileage did people see when they picked theres up?

If it's real I'd be mighty peeved .shouldn't they have protective film on them?

It doesn't look great - so I'm not quite sure what possessed him to send it. However it does seem a bit of a shame to crucify him for trying to do something to please you!

I guess it doesn't mean that they've definitely been using it as the car for pizza runs and laps of a muddy field :)

Of course the car has done 700 miles on an open train carriage and then a journey on a transporter so that could be it.

Certainly no crucifying going on, though I wish he'd shown a bit more! :)

Just hear stories of other people having their new car used for demos.

Guess I'll wait and see...

@PR. I discovered a lot of dealers have multiple containment yards for deliveries / stock movement. So the road salt might just be the transfer between that and the dealership with any luck! IIRC I had around 10 miles on the clock at collection.

All of the S4's had around 25 on the clock at delivery.

Yup, around that mark is correct, after all its only should be driven, on off a train, a ship, a transporter and, possibly, a short test in the dealerships compound.

My dealer has a compound across town where they unload the transporters and store cars - I guess they don't like the image of a lorry surrounded by anxious customers wincing as their new pride and joy is extracted from the trailer in front of the showroom.
Anyway, as others have said, short drive after pdq would be expected. If your dealer has off site storage and most do there's no way it'll be used for demo's.

I think this is common practice for most dealerships. Round the corner from my dealers is a massive compound, it's the PDI centre for most of the Listers group. On my current car I use to go down the PDI centre stalking to try and catch a glimpse.
My dealer usually collects my cars and does the PDI himself at the dealership as he knows how fussy I am. Think my current car had 7 miles on it.

Well, after going into paint yesterday, it's now showing its in QC! mmmmmm, possible, but unlikely. That makes it a week ahead of an already short delivery estimate. I'll check with the dealer on Monday and see what they know...if anything!

Thanks all for putting my mind at ease!
