About a week ago my driver seat started moving slightly when stopping/accelerating.

Its more often noticeable when accelerating (not every time) but i've also noticed it a few times when coming to a complete stop.

Anyone else has this problem?

This really shouldn't be happening so my suggestion is, irrespective of whether ayone else is having this, you need to take the car into the dealership. The seat should not move at all...

A seat should never move. Take it to be checked asap.

Drivers seat on my A3 does this too. Sort of "clunks" a few mm forward and back. Dealer looked at it but couldn't reproduce it. Decided to change the car instead. lol

Maybe we should start looking for a manufacturer with a reputation for good build quality :welcoming::welcoming::whistle2:

(That was very much tongue in cheek before the audi police turn up:blahblah1:)

Dealer changed the car for you?

Mine is doing this as well. It's because the bottom seat base is not properly attached to the frame/mounting mechanism. My A4 is booked in for a new steering wheel on Friday as the leather is split, I'll mention the seat then.

Took it in today and mentioned the seat mechanism also wasn't right, they said there is a recall on the front seats and are now keeping my car until Jan as it's a safety issue and they need to order parts etc.

Might mention this to my dealer in the new year as mine also moved slightly. Usually only when getting in and out.

The recall is to do with the way the seat positioning locks in, apparently it can fail in a crash. The slight movement seems to be a manufacturing fault, I'm not sure if they'll fix it or replace the whole chair.

Perhaps you could assert which models are affected and build numbers?

The dealership might show you the tsb, technical service bullentin, letter if you ask nicely...

I'll ask when I collect and also advise on the outcome of the moving seat base.

The recall on the front seats is to do with a poor weld between the seat frame and back rest adjuster. The dealership tests each chair individually. My passenger side seat was affected. I assume it potentially affects all A4s. I'll find out the service campaign number when I collect next week. The entire seat base for my drivers seat is being replaced as there is too much movement. The position locking mechanism also gets stuck and doesn't go in straight.

Sorry, I didn't check which models this impacted (seat back weld), but my car is a Aug 2017 build. Might not help though as I think the A4 is built in more than multiple factories...

H had this on my b8. After adjustment it would move once on the runners and click after anything from 5mins to a few hours. Took it to dealers as in my opinion it was a safety issue. Said they couldn't find anything...

The seat clips in no problem, it was more the attachment of the seat base to the base mechanism if that makes sense. What you're saying does sound unacceptable though.

Yours sounds even more like a safety issue!

Since having the driver's seat base replaced in December last year, it remained stable for 2 months but now has a lot of movement in it again. Most noticeable when I come to a stop from motorway speeds. It has to be a common fault, it feels like there are just some loose bolts. Is anyone else facing the same issue still and is so has anyone had better success getting it corrected?

I've had an issue with seat moving forward on acceleration and backwards on backwards on stopping. Dealer addressed the problem by replacing the seat track.

Since then the seat itself has not been stable and is rocking side to side, i can move it by pressing down on the seat and moving the backrest, you can hear it clinking. I get the same clunking when driving, however it is intermittent.

My concern is that this also poses a safety issue, as the seat is not secure?

Dealer has tried to repair twice, by re torquing the bolts, no success. I am supposed to be booked for another visit, but have no heard back yet.

Any ideas on what may be the problem here? Anyone has any experience with these types of issuess?

Anyone experiencing this still? My seat cushion moves by 0.5mm or so when stopping. Dealer says it’s normal because other cars have it, I told them it’s a widespread fault then not ok. Not sure how to progress this...

I mean 0.5 cm! Possibly up to 1 cm!

I have a 66 plate B9 and its doing it on both driver and passenger, Doncaster Audi say its not a fault as it happens on other cars. Personally I think its a cop out, doesn't mean its not a fault!!!!
Pursuing through Audi UK
If anyone has details on the recall @jwa1

I agree that it’s a common fault not a norm. I had no luck with Southampton Audi and haven’t pushed anything with Audi UK. I’d be happy to join forces and back up your case though. The movement under braking is a bit of a safety issue imo as it is possible to lose control of the pedal slightly. My car is a 66 plate also.

Hi, did you find out what the recall number on this is please as mine is doing the same , many thanks for your help, Gordon

I’m not sure if the issue is the same as others on here but mine I found it only happened when the seat angle adjustment was at its most extremes. Adjusting this stopped it

Mine seems to move about more often when I go round corners , sometimes it feels more like the base and sometimes it feels like it’s the upright . And sometimes you can actually here a small thud .
Anyone else out there got the same problem / knows the reacall/tsb and has had this fixed ??.

There was a recall for early B9s because the seat back frame could break at the fixing points. Not sure what condition would cause this though, may have only been in severe impact.

What you’re describing definitely isn’t right and needs to be looked at. I would book it in.

Mind is an A3 Saloon 1.8tfsi S Line , 64 plate with 50k on it , bought it last August from Newcastle Audi, got 2 year warranty on it so still in warranty until August this year , was jus TV wanting to find out the number of the recall or TSB so I can go to Audi with it as you know they will try and talk there way out of it as usual

I have a 2020 A3 sportback, old model. Bought car with 2000 miles on clock and the drivers seat often moves slightly when cornering to the right and now does it either way and on stopping sometimes. Trouble is it's an intermittent fault and very annoying. Audi dealer checked it and surprise, surprise could not replicate fault.
They tightened up the seat bolts but it still does it, funnily enough as soon as I drove it down the road from the dealer !!
Never had this happen on all the many cars I have owned in the past.
The dealer said they would have to take the seat out completely if the problem persists. Not happy :(
Anyone else has this issue recently with any Audi ?
