Hi,

As of tonight I have sold my 2014 64 plate Audi A3, for a 2016 BMW M135i! Although I'm going over to the dark side, I can honestly say that the Audi is and shall always be a brilliant car, 50 to the gallon on almost every journey lately even when booting it, the 1.4 TFSI engine is one of the best engines the VW group currently make (IMO).

Just wanted to thank the other users (especially @Rob2k68 ) for helping me and giving me advice whilst owning the car, Rob retrofitted the dipping mirror, sweeping dials and visual parking aid display for me, so thank you for these.

Maybe I'll return in the future with another Audi (RS3!!) so I'll keep looking back and seeing what the latest talk is :yahoo:

"2016 BMW M135i" are they not all M140i now fella?
Before we purchased our new S3 we tested drove the 140i, IMO the S3 build quality was far better than the M140i?!
Hope you enjoy the RWD, a tad lively for me!? ;)

My friend has a MY16 M135i and it's an incredibly lively little car and great fun to drive! Bit of a step up from a 1.4 I'm sure you'll love it!

I wanted to experience a rear driven car, which unfortunately Audi don't really offer. Plus another said the deal for this car was way better than what Audi could offer. Audis are rather expensive the higher the trim level unfortunately

Enjoy the new motor mate!
Bloke at work has a white one. Sounds amazing with the performance exhaust. Only thing he doesn't like is the flappy paddle gearbox, prefers the Audi S Tronic but I've not had a shot.
Was behind another white one yesterday. Spoiled by the addition of large M Sport graphics on doors and rear, would've been better without.
All the best.

nice car dude. i'm interested to hear how you think it compares to the A3 in terms of refinement, specifically road noise?

Very nice. I was tempted to get a 140i... but with UK weather, the sticky gecko did it for me. Enjoy it though mate, I'm sure it'll be awesome fun. Get some more pics up though and your thoughts on it

I would say not as well, definitely not as comfortable and there is a bit more tyre roar, maybe because it has run flats maybe? Also it has sports suspension so lower to the floor. I knew it wouldn't be as good a ride as the audi but it isn't uncomfortable at all.

Yeah I can understand the temptation for the S3, unbelievable pace in any condition. So far so good! Will do :)

Audi's...ie up the ladder from a S3.....are mightily more expensive, even the S3's price with a few options hits almost £40k....you went for the deal....and its a fooking huge step up from a A3 sport.....mate....l like the black optic kidney grille....again all the best with it....

Aren't the M140 and M240 available with x-drive now?

To say I am enjoying the M2....is a huge understatement even on UK winter roads.

I do miss more things from the S3 than I was expecting though.

^ Best M car on sale. Hate the interior though... and the seats aren't special enough.

I struggle to average over 46 even on a long trip driving mine very carefully :-(

Mind you, it's only done 7000m (I'm second owner and it's 2yrs old) so maybe not quite run in?

Barely, I'd say by around 24k miles it should be nicely loosened up

I can't get it to upload anything too HD sorry Jassy.
Keep having to resize and reduce resolution to just get pic to upload.

Re what I miss from the S3.....?
The dash - especially the clocks. The M2 clocks aint good and are woeful when not backlit (orange dials and can hardly see them).
........so switch to digital speedo as I can't see the clock - and the font is minute (why? as there is empty space?). Same everywhere - minute fonts.

The tyre noise is tiresome on long journeys.

The leather on the seats ain't the best.

Interior finish is just about ok.

Heated seats 3 options are: really hot, very hot and hot.

The wheels are a ba5tard to clean......but easy to kerb.

The (enhanced) speakers are still tinny.

It's a ba5tard to reverse into the garage as it's rear end is so fat!

But then you fire it up and it growls - take it for a drive...... and forgive it all of its shortfalls.
I really can't stop driving it.

I recently had a brief moment where I thought I might like a 225d with the mperformance bits, but it seems to have passed.

Nice one! I've heard good things about the M135i from a friend who owns one. Personally not a fan of the interior or the rear of the car, but sure as hell are fun to drive and you get significantly better deals on BMW than you do with Audi so I can't say I blame you really. Everybody wants to get the most for their money.

I'll make sure next time I see you in the wet and at a traffic light I will leave you for dust with my QUATTRO.

Serves you right for going to the dark side.....
